Asus Stiker Extreme - latest BIOS

Motherboard Asus Striker Extreme 680i (NB:C55XE, SB:MCP55XE)
Cooling Zalman 9700, 1*200mm fan, 5*120mm fans
Memory 8GB OCZ PC6400 - 4*2 @ 622MHz (stability problems)
Video Card(s) Geforce 8800GTS
Storage 2* Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 320GB - no RAID
Display(s) Mitsubishi Diamond Plus 74SB
Case Antec Nine Hundred + optional fans
Audio Device(s) On board (sort of - SupremeFX ADI 1988B)
Power Supply Corsair HW 620w
Software Gentoo GNU+Linux amd64 (latest development kernel)
I'm just wondering whether anyone has flashed their Asus Striker Extreme to the latest BIOS revision, and whether their Kentsfield is still working. I've been creeped by seeming horror stories about how their board wouldn't post after doing so ...

Plus my Striker says my Kentsfield is idling at 19C, which just can't be right.

Benchmark Scores Fast. I don't need epeen.
Whatever BIOS your board is using now, I'd stick with it. I had a Crosshair and the latest BIOS from the Asus site killed my board dead after a few hours.

I think I will on that advise ... That temp reading is worrying me a bit though.

I am runnin 1104 .... I think thats what it is, I am at work right now. I will double check when I get home

Argh DRAM check warnings on startup ...

I've underclocked my ram to 667MHz and overvolted .025v ... seems to be working now

I really, really, really hate this board.

Okay, one of the DIMMs is definitely shot. On closer inspection the heat shield isn't stuck on properly. I thought it was wonky before but ... Yeah. I can definitely see it isn't glued on properly, so I suppose it cooked itself to death. I hope I can RMA just the one instead of sending back both!!

edit : I am running 1102 on my board.... and yes the SE can be a pain.

THe new BIOS has a few new things in it. But now I cant get my 1066 OCZ memory to boot past 800mhz. =\

I updated to 1102, just incase that solved the problem. Aside from the memory not working (hey, it wasn't working before), it seems to work just as well.

Edit: It doesn't like my ram at all though. For one it didn't set my ram at the required voltage (2.1), and secondly it sets the timings far too loose. It sets them at 6-6-6-18, but it should be 5-5-5-15. Darned thing. Plus after the BIOS upgrade it says my processor is a 2.13GHz Q6600 :/ Although when I cat the processor in linux (/proc/cpuinfo) it says it's clocked at 2.4GHz, as it should be.
