ASUS launches the ROG TYTAN CG8890 Desktop PC, powered by a liquid-cooled Intel Core i7-3960X processor with Turbo Gear enabling 6-core CPU instant overclocking to reach a maximum speed of 4.2 GHz. It comes equipped with the latest NVIDIA GeForce GTX 690 graphics card that supports up to four monitors, while dual 128 GB SATA3 SSDs in RAID 0 delivers four times greater data access speeds than generic HDDs. The audio quality is further enhanced by an ASUS Xonar DX sound card, providing 35 times clearer audio than onboard audio codecs, giving gamers an audio advantage over their opponents.

On top of the aerodynamic polygonal exterior that features an intricately designed chassis that transforms when the system is overclocked, the additional DEFCON and bottom grill lighting indicator shows system readiness with blue and red LED lights. With its upgraded 10-way venting and liquid cooled CPU, the CG8890's case is a cooling behemoth engineered to deliver the most efficient heat dissipation and airflow for incredible stability in any extreme condition.

Instant 6-core CPU overclocking and DEFCON indicator

Sweep your way through the battlefield with one-click Turbo Gear overclocking, which allows you to dynamically overclock the CG8890's Intel Core i7-3960X processor with no need to reboot. With a single click, the CG8890 instantly overclocks its 6-core to three different modes, while the DEFCON indicator and bottom grill lighting shows system readiness with blue and red LED lights.

    ● Startup mode: ROG logo + bottom grill lights up blue, with the CPU overclocked to 3.8 GHz
    ● Turbo Gear mode: ROG logo + bottom grill lights up red, with the CPU overclocked to 4.0 GHz
    ● Turbo Gear extreme mode: ROG logo + bottom grill lights up red, with the CPU overclocked to 4.2 GHz

Exceptional realism gameplay with instant response

Be blown away by the latest NVIDIA GeForce GTX 690 graphics card. The GTX 690 is capable of producing fluid smooth gameplay at the highest gaming settings and has the power to support up to four monitors plus the option to game in NVIDIA 3D Vision Surround. The additional ASUS Xonar DX audio card powered by Dolby Home Theater technologies delivers 35 times cleaner audio quality (116dB SNR) than onboard audio codecs, giving gamers the edge by hearing their enemy way before the enemy sees them. To top it all, twin 128 GB SATA 3 SSDs in RAID 0 deliver four times greater data access speeds than generic HDDs, allowing gamers to quickly react during intense gaming situations.

Superb cooling action for ultimate stability

In order to achieve ultimate stability, the CG8890 is engineered to provide the best thermal solution in the thick of battle. The chassis automatically transforms and opens its top and side panels in Turbo Gear mode to reveal its robust crimson fans so as to exhaust hot air and redirect cool air into the system, thus extending the lifespan of components inside. The additional intricately designed venting holes along the chassis also aid the overall cooling while the integrated liquid cooled CPU offers efficient and silent heat dissipation. With its advanced 10-way venting and integrated liquid cooling, the CG8890 is the perfect gaming desktop for marathon gaming sessions.

Just by looking at that I wonder:

    1. Do you really need to pop the side panels off for a 4.2Ghz overclock?

    2. if you are going to pop the side panels, wouldn't you want your fan grills to not choke the fans? Those grills look like they are designed to stop things from coming in. Looks like the engineers and the warranty department got into a fight, and the compromise was to put armor plating in front of the fans.

    3. That is a lot of fans. 6 fans just out in front... Even if those fans spin at 1000RPM, that is just a whole lot of extra noise that isnt worth it.

    4. What the hell is 10-way venting? The case only has 6 sides lol... the hot air must be stopping for a snack and a stretch at vent 7.

This whole rig is a bit of a drama queen IMO. There are mini ITX chassis that can pack comparable gear (heat and pert wise), with a higher over-clock, and do it with two fans for the whole system.

phanbuey: Oriental designers ARE drama queens, haha, if it is not crazy it is not good. Untill recently, just to comment one example of thousands, until recently gigabyte/asus/etc applications looked more like Space Viruses than serious pieces of software... (I wrote them about it many times and now YOU are enjoying a more streamlined and adult aesthetic experience :)

Regarding this monster.... it is simple: 10-way venting means ... TEN FANS!!

It only lacks some 8-bit music for each "level" of "amazing OC" to be a fully featured abomination...

BTW: 4,2 Mhz???? I am at 4600 with only a 7-way venting Cosmos case... Asus? Hey!

Hmmm, give it a few missiles in the front venting with a huge red "Fire" button with a hard-acrylic casing around it and maybe we will talk.

    I agree with this.

Only Asia would come up with cars which have excessive camber as a fashion statement.

    Let's see here...
According to the ROG press release, it has a Rampage IV Formula housing a 3960x, 4x4GB of DDR3-2133, a liquid cooler for the CPU(looks like an Antec all-in-one), an Asus GTX690, 2 128GB SSDs in RAID0(they look like Corsair drives), and a 2TB HDD.
You could build that yourself(minus the horrid case) for ~$3k USD. They're asking how much for this ugly thing?

Pretty nice, for what I'm guessing the price might be like $3000-5000. IMO, not worth it.

The first thing I thought was of the original Knight Rider firebird when the car opens up going 350 MPH. Otherwise, rather gimmicky to me.
