ASUS x99 Deluxe

Hello. Is anyone else with this motherboard unable to modify the BIOS without it completely killing the PC or just telling you "Overclock has failed" @ the POST.

My RAM is sitting at 2133mhz when it should be 2800... I can't overclock the CPU either.

Anyone had luck with the newest BIOS?

Same thing happens with me although I'm using an ASUS Maximus VII Gene. I'm currently running my RAM at 2133 rather than 2400. Manually setting the speed and timing or using XMP results in the same thing. Haven't even tried OCing the CPU.

Edit:
A reviewer at Legit Reviews with the same board you burned his motherboard when he was loading the XMP profiles for his RAM. It might just be a one off. His board might have been bad.

Bad luck, poorly cleaned motherboard from solder. It burned, as he raised voltage, and the thus the voltage level was enough to create electrical charge via air and thus it shortcut started, then meltdown... I guess someone will be bitchslapped at Asus camp.

He blew up the CPU VRM which is in no way related to the RAM. A short that would kill the VRM would have to have occurred between the MB VRM and Intel's FIVR so no this isn't ram related.

x99,DDR4 is new give it some time you aren't gonna see any performance with 2133 vs 2800
I am sure ASUS's has some bios level issues they almost always do ..

I used the original RIVE bios for 3 years then updated to the new one found out they wrecked everything I liked and went back to using the very first BIOS from 2011. So I don't think that ASUS has that many BIOS issues. I know I read that the MVIE or MVIIE had major BIOS problems but the HEDT boards ASUS makes are excellent from day 1.

@OP I think you might be missing some setting somewhere. Even now I occasionally setup an OC boot and find my system either downclocking to 1200mhz in idle or running the default 33x multiplier because I messed with some toggle somewhere.

I've been having some OC problems too.
The XMP profile doesn't seem to load for my ram nor many other OC attempts.
I'm hesitant to start ramping up voltages justyet so I'll give it a couple weeks for others to report in thier overclocking adventures.

Looks like a BIOS update was pushed just last week to help with XMP compatibility:

Have you guys tried the newer BIOS and has it worked for you? I'm just wondering coz it might be the same case for my M7G. It might be that they're also gonna release a BIOS with more memory support. I'm on the latest BIOS but it still doesn't work.

I've gotten XMP enabled to run a couple of times, but after a few shaky reboots it will eventually fail and give me the "overclock failed" error. Sometimes I've had to clear the bios to reboot. I've tried four BIOS versions with the same results (currently running a beta BIOS that is not out yet and still doesn't help). If I just try to run my memory at 2800MHz, that does not work either.

Well CRAP, that was the board I was going to get...I guess this time I will pick the
MSI X99S GAMING 9 AC board, unless someone has good feedback on not too.

I have the deluxe and my only issue(gone now) booting from my SanDisk with my Evo installed. Anyways I've got 2800dominators and the 2 xmp profile works flawlessly for me along with my overclock.

When I get home in about 2hrs, I did my overclocking using the Asus software in Windows. I think the software is a lil'generous on the voltage though but I haven't messed around with my system the way I should.

Wow that's odd as normally the windows overclock is nowhere as good as a bios overclock....hmmm...thnx tho!
