    Yes, that's the one!

ASUS definitely utilized a lot of the Macbook Air's features and designs in this notebook, but they got rid of the worst part about it: the Apple logo ;)

Agreed, looking forward to see all of the other companies' ultrabooks! Toshiba's looks promising.

Reviews have indicated that the touchpad is frustrating to use versus that of the MBA. What's been your experience so far? For all the shots that people take at Apple here, one thing you can't complain about is the quality of the touchpads on their laptops.

I haven't used an Apple touchpad, but honestly it's great. I updated firmware and drivers and have actually had less problems with this touchpad than my ASUS U30Jc's. A few left clicks registering as right clicks, but overall very easy to use, especially for my first clickpad.

The keyboard is going to take some getting used to, though. You have to bottom out each key in order for the key press to register. I'll let you guys know over time how easy it is to get used to. At this point, I am consistently missing about one out of every 50 keypresses if I'm not actively paying attention. I'm used to typing on a Ducky Year of the Tiger with Cherry MX Browns.

I went into the apple store yesterday to replace the camera in my wife's iphone 4s, and I almost bought a macbook air. I'm really glad I didn't, because I saw the zenbook reviews after I got home. Definitely considering getting this thing. Comes in an i7 model as well right? I want something ultra portable for when I have to travel / go to conferences and sh*t.

    I watch Linus, too :p

Yes, it also comes with an i7, but don't think in desktop terms. Here's a comparison page of the three processors that you have to choose from throughout the Zenbook line (both sizes):

    Intel® Core™ i5-2467M vs. i5-2557M vs. i7-2677M

I will be posting a few things soon. If somebody wants to keep a list updated of reviews and PM them to me, I'd be happy to update them in the OP.

By the way, installed W7 fresh on this thing, and tested the restart time just after the installation. Proof coming soon, but let's just say this Ultrabook booted faster than any machine I have ever touched in my entire life.
    mediasorcerer and CDdude55 say thanks.

Thanks danish, great post, wow what a lovely machine, who cares if its similar to mba, i feel very positive towards asus for creating this thing, they are taking the lead above them all, and it looks like a real quality machine, if you can update us on how well it performs too, that would be grand!!!

I care that it looks like the MBA.

#1 Apple haters will realize that Apple IS innovative and use great designs and looks.
#2 MBA looks sexy... The Zenbook looks sexier to my eyes :) It's MBA with a touch of ASUS

I'm interested in battery life, if you could comment on that
    mediasorcerer says thanks.

With ASUS's power saving mode, it'll get 7hrs. I'll get some more testing done throughout the week with a fresh install, little to no ASUS software, and with standard Windows battery profiles.
    n-ster says thanks.

And Apple thinks they're the only ones who can make a nice laptop.

Im no apple hater, quite the contrary, ive had several apple desktops and lappies over the years, i just see it all as technology and am thankful we have choices because apple make some great but sometimes expensive gear, that is good for certain applications, just as windows is too.

Yeh it is way sexy, i want one !!!

The Acer Aspire S3 is also another MBA-like notebook. I'm glad more and more of these are popping up for Windows users, maybe someday I can sit at the l33t section of Starbucks.

Wish they'd step it back up to 1.3 webcams like Acer did. I'm tired of my original EEE having a better webcam than current laptops. Maybe they will on the backlit revision since they have an example to compete with now.

Unfortunately, the general consensus on the Aspire S3 is that it's a major disappointment. We're still awaiting quite a few other Ultrabooks like the Toshiba Portege Z835, Lenovo Ideapad U300s, Samsung Series 9 and LG XNote P220.

As far as the webcam, I Skyped with a few people, and they said that the quality looked really good, while my ASUS U30Jc looked kinda washed out.

I'd be curious what toshiba and lenovo put out. Though I'd expect the Asus to look nicer, I suspect that a lenovo or toshiba might be a nicer computer.

The Toshiba looks really promising from what I've seen. I was going to wait it out, but the Zenbook mesmerized me :)
