Athlon 64 FX-74 as good as Core 2 QX6700 at default clock speed?

According to Tom's hardware CPU charts FX-74 (with 2 cores) is close enough to QX6700 (with 4 cores) in most tests.

That means when AMD's Quad core comes out its going to Intel?

i believe there setup is 2 FX74 so really 4 cores...i think u have to run the fx74 in pairs

Well, you talking about another cpu, therefore there is gonna be more heat, and more power...and looking at it, the simple 6000+ did better.

What you need is two xeon quads

I'm an amd fanboy and I say no the quad fx isn't competing at all with the intel quad's. not only in price and performance, but mostly in drivers, the quad fx is plagued with non optimised drivers and few applications that support it, whereas the qx only needs a multithreaded app to run all cores.
