LOL, needless to say I will look else where for reviews.
I really hope that we see more Pro-ATI Games like HAWX, that just rape on ATI cards.
im wondering what the availibility of these cards are going to be
Review link already ?
I just looked wiz is logged in maybe hes upping it now
Oh snap! Two articles.
Yay! Reviews are up!
It's been an hour since I last posted and the thread is dead.
FWIW, Newegg has three 5870 cards and the HIS is the only one in stock but still at ~$380.
So wattage is similar to 4870 and 4890, wonder if the aftermarket coolers will fit the newer cards....
Zipzoomfly has the 5850 listings for ~$260. I wonder how long the lower prices will last.
I think everyone is reading the reviews right now.
Wow this is great news! I was really hoping the 5850 was going to be closer to the $250 mark before MIR. From w1zzard's review the 5850 outperformed the gtx285 on most benches.
It should hit the $229.99 mark by Christmas. Thats the expected MSRP pro-rated chart. Unless Nvidia can pull a fast one.
A woman who loves PC Hardware... you still amaze me JessicaFae
I just died laughing cause in was like an IM thread there for about 4 hours leading up to the NDA time and then.....dead. It's just too funny.
Yea, it took me about an hour to read the ones I was looking for. You read one, hit the benches for all to compare, and then catch the ones for the technical stuff. W1zz surprised me on the bandwidth one and was a nice read. Anandtech supplied the details I expect from them. I prefer W1zz, even though he leaves out COD WaW, because he covers soooo many games. Its nice to go to one site and see a wide coverage to get an idea of what your looking at. [H] kind of disappointed me cause they were very limited on the games they did and none of them I play or have any interest though they say they will up date soon with a look at Eyefinity too, which I'm looking forward to.
even better news . The bad news is that it will likely stay at 34,000yen in Japan for a long time. I'll just have to pick one up when I'm back at x-mas time.
Since you seem curious, I am a HPC/bioinformatics software engineer so I write lots of code and try to wring performance out of hardware. I want to do some OpenCL development this winter and want to have both an Nvidia card and an ATi card. I think the ATi architecture may actually work better for my applications, but Nvidia has a better "history" so I would need to have it work on both (ie OpenCL).
It would have been "Oh snap! Three articles" if those stupid fucks at German customs hadn't held our second card coming from Taiwan. Third one would have been CrossFire Performance.
It will be up soon.
I'm disapointed I must say....
needs MOAR!!! memory bandwith for real, It really should be better than the 4870x2 or at least equal but that 256-bit bus is rearing its ugly, ugly head.
Hopefully we will see what the cards do with some voltage and RAM overclocking results, until them I guess I can reserve final judgment.
package for 5870 cf review has just been loaded onto the truck according to dhl tracking ... omg teh excitement, can't wait
