I thought you were talking about 3dmark06 for a second. I was so going to make fun of your 18k score

I got HD 5870 CF but darn... microstuttering is killing me. I am done with this piece of crap fail multi-GPU for once and for all. I have tried it on HD2, HD3, HD4 and now HD5 series and still the same. For ATis defence I must say SLi is exactly the same fail.

I experienced it with my 3870 series with two games (FC2, CoD), but not with the 48xx series. I just don't get it. Hopefully it will be resolved with new drivers but you should definitely send a support ticket to ATi.

Hmm I think you are on right tracks with this one. Its pointing towards driver related issue. I fiddled around enabling disabling the CF and actually got it running A+ smoothness for a while before the micro-stuttering found its way back. :(

Can't wait to hear your experiences. I sure hope its just drivers so it gets fixed at some point. So far it looks like so. :wtf:

Good luck! I hope you have better first experiences than I have.

Did you try turning off indexing on your hard drive(s)? This can cause stuttering. If you are running Windows 7, make sure you have the refresh rate set to 60hz. Win 7 likes to make it 59hz for a lot of people for some reason.

I don't have indexing turned on, the OS is Vista installed on my month old X25-M G2. Will fiddle more around with the CCC while waiting for some better drivers.

5850's have finally showed up on Japanese e-tailers / Akihabara. Prices are what was predicted (32000 -35000 yen or approximately $359-$393) That is a 40-50% price increase over the North American $259 price. sigh. I guess the market for high-end PC video cards is really ultra-niche here.

    Ark-PC 5850 listings
Sapphire 5850 at FaithPC for 32,470 yen

makes the 19500 yen I paid for my MSI 4890 look very reasonable and good price/performance competitive. It's going to be a very long time till the 5850/5870 prices drop in Japan.

Hmm my HD 5870 CF experience is getting better after initial bad start.

Following games run flawlessly (haven't tested more games than these):

    Crysis Warhead
    COD 4
    OFP2: Dragon Rising
    Warcraft 3
    Some older steam games

    Games with issues:

BF2142: NS stutter in some buildings
Crysis stutter when using assault scope

    Other glitches:
sometimes ff quickly flickers to black for a fraction of a second
.AVI videos started to stutter after watching one for 30mins. Only .avi was affected. Thankfullynew codec pack fixed the issue and it haven't come back so far.

    :)

My stock cooler temps during gaming were arounf 77c to 80c with the fan at default max of 33 percent (because anything higher was crazy loud). With this cooler I never went over 55c during heavy gaming with the fan at 100 percent 12v and near silent. With OCCT full screen it hits 64c give or take a few degrees with my 5850 at 850/1250.

Thanks for that trt740, it's a interesting prospect that I can put a better cooler on my 5870, that baby is decently loud.

    however right now I'm running, quite successfully;

    1010 mhz @ 1.25v
    1250 mhz memory

With the lowered voltage she hasn't topped 60 degrees, albeit at 80% fan, but I'd rather put up with the noise and be sure she wont overheat if you hear me ;)

You are more lucky with that card.
I have a hard time keeping the card stable @1000/1250.
    Something is overheating somewhere.
