[WTB] [AUS] 7600GT or 8600GT

Ok i have just built my GF's computer over the weekend and as you can see on the side < that it is running Sli 7600GT's, but one of those is my Brothers card from his linux machine and i gave him the 8600GT to use so i could run Sli 7600's but now he wants it back because the 8600GT is playing up in Linux :shadedshu
So now i have 1 7600GT and 1 8600GT and i just need one more of ether one card so i can run Sli again.

So im looking for a Inno3D 256MB 7600GT or something close to it (not overclocked) as both are the same brand etc

Or one Xpertvision 256MB 8600GT or something close to it, also (not overclocked)

Id prefer a 7600GT so i can just throw it into my brothers machine and be done with it.

Or if im feeling in a good mood i might swap the 8600GT for a 7600GT

The 8600 GT is faster than the 7600 GT.

But both cards are below standard for reasonable gaming. Even SLI 7600 GT is way to weak for today’s games at lowest settings/resolution. The 8600 GT is bottom of the barrel Direct X 10, if you are ok with low resolution, medium settings, and a spot of lag the 8600 GT is for you.

Otherwise invest in a ATI 4830, they are less than $99 US dollars, they are the best performing card for the price.

Talking sideways, I’d say avoid the 8600 GT, they were so three years ago, and they wasn't even that good then.

I've got an OLD ATI x1600 Pro, I'm willing to sell you it for £25 UK.

Yeah, you are totally right, performance wise they are about the same. However, 8600 GT does have the advantage with it being DX10,they over clock well and in some cases it can compete with the 7900GS and x1900, either way I still couldn't recommend it. lol

Yeah, you are totally right, performance wise they are about the same. However, 8600 GT does have the advantage with it being DX10,they over clock well and in some cases it can compete with the 7900GS and x1900, either way I still couldn't recommend it. lol

Im not worried about high end gaming performance just good enough to run games that the GF wants to play, and for a cheap price and so i can play with my first Sli set up.

I gave the comp a test in COD5 and Left 4 Dead and ran them both pretty good, i was surprised how well it played them both, medium to high settings. 1280*1024

I run XP so Direct X 10 is meh to me lol
