Hello i have a problem with Far Cry 4.

I mean sometimes ( very very rarely ) i have artifacts like this:

Card is OC by factory. I dont OC. Rma time? Its my second Asus Strix 980 with similiar problem with artifacts on Far Cry 4.Again RMA? I am sorry but this is ridicilous. Second card with similiar problem. This time its showing that artifacts like above.
On other games i dont notice that. Playing Watch Dogs, Crysis 3, Heaven i dont see that artifacts.
Only in Far Cry 4 but very occasionally i have something like this. Very rarely but of course it is.
I can play Far Cry 4 many hours without that artifacts. But sometimes after 10 minutes it can appear like on stated movie above.
That yellow artifacts always appear on the same place in game. I dont get them in other places. Always when i walk to the same place like on that movie. It can be graphic card or its a game\driver issue because its always on the same place in game?
So its RMA time? So its again not stable OC even preferred by Asus?

Hope you help me.
Ah i forget. My psu is Corsair 750 RM. Game is patched to 1.5. And i am using 344.75 - WHQL. Thx

I'd say update the game before blaming it on the card, especially if it has done it with two cards and in the exact same place on the map.

I was having similar issues, I had rolled back the graphics driver, seems to have sorted it out (I am playing with W10 Preview though mind you). Like newtekie1 stated, try a game update then maybe play with the display drivers first.

Years ago I and a lot of other people had some similar problems on original Rome Total War. IIRC, it turned out to have been a combo of game code that needed patching as well as bad drivers. I doubt it's the card.

Game/driver issue; if it were a card issue, it'd happen more and in other games. I'm sorry to hear that you RMA'd your 980 for that.

Its my second Strix 980 , and again i have occasionally artifacting on Far Cry 4. Why they not release stable card with factory OC?

Never had a problem with Asus OC'd cards, quite the opposite, I was able to OC them even more. I'd suggest as the others say to rollback drivers/update the game and see what happens.

Before trying a RMA, I'll test the card if it's really faulty rather than artifacting in an specific point of an specific game, run FurMark and/or OCCT GPU (Check Errors) and if you don't get artifacts or errors within those tests, I'm pretty sure it's not a card problem. Even you mention that you hadn't problems at all with other games, so not trying to be rude, but blaming just the hardware in this scenario seems a bit unfair.
Hope you get it solved soon though :toast:

Your card is fine, you need to use different drivers.

As far as I'm concerned 344.75 is a terrible driver. It introduced a wealth of Display Driver Errors on my GTX 770 in situations where I had zero issues before. I rolled back to an earlier one at the time and the problems were gone. Haven't had artifacting, but then again I run a Kepler and you run a Maxwell. From what I heard they had been tweaking voltages in that driver, and that may very well be the culprit.

344.75 would also diminish my overclock: ingame it clocked back to 1200mhz instead of staying locked at 1280, and I noticed odd voltage drops when it did so - none of them heat related which is usually the case.

Later drivers also don't have this issue, I run 347.52 now without issues.

For future reference, always screw around with display driver versions when you run into issues. It tends to solve 95% of all 'sudden' problems that arise with a GPU.

I also save solid driver versions from the past so that I can always roll back. It has helped me solve and find loads of issues.

I am really sorry for trouble. But if you can help me i will be pleased. Look
Look what i have found. Somebody record gameplay with Asus Strix 970. And he got the same occasionally flickering ( artifacts ) like mine Asus Strix 980.

I upload movie.
Look second 0:24 ( that fast flicker ) :

And i have the same random very occasionally flicker . Is this related to card or game? Or Strix are just too much overclocked just Far Cry 4?

litwicki24, read the post above yours. Have you tried the 347.52 drivers?

Check for your self - underclock the card to stock GTX 980 frequencies and see what happens.
:shadedshu: You're not listening to what everyone is saying about that game.
Would you please fill out the rest of your system specs?

This same thread is over on [H]ard|OCP and OP refuses to try any suggestions. He just keeps whining "is it the game or driver or card". He's notorious for posting these types of threads that never end well.

I think its related to card. I have seen many user movies on youtube with Far Cry 4 gameplay and almost nobody with reference clocked Gtx 970\980 got the same occasionally flickering like me.
Only cards with factory OC have occasionally flickering in that game.
So take i look, i have almost the same flickering like here:
Look second 0:24 ( that fast flicker line ).
Also this is my second Asus Strix 980 with the same problem.
I am thinking that Strixs are just too much OC'ed for Far Cry 4. Or this game dont like any OC.

Litwicki, why do you ignore all the requests to try down-clocking the card on multiple forums? Are you that stubborn, or just a troll?

Well, it's obvious to me that this thread is only serving to frustrate others at this point.

@litwicki24, you need to try different drivers as stated above. Your help has run out here.
