bad hard drive...?

    how do i know if my hard drive is not good anymore because when i start the computer nothing happens it like i don't read it but sometimes it does and when it does the computer freezes and when i restart it using the restart button it just makes this little beep sound and nothing happens.

    try booting from a Os disk and see if you can fix it also is it new or is it old? jsut dont reinstall and erase everything unless you want to

    the hdd is not even 1 year i cant even get to the bios

    are you sure its the hard drive? and make sure everything is pluged in power and Sata/Ide cable im sure uve checked those

    i am pretty sure it has to do with the hdd it doesn't even make the nose when i turn it on

    ok well then its probely bad what was the storage compasity and how full did you have it?

    its 120gs and there was umm.. about 80gs left but its weird because sometimes it does work.

    maybe on of the cables are faulty or one of the ports is bad

    this is hapening to me to, i think its a boot virus not sure i dont know how to get rid of it ive been trying to figure it out but have had no sucess

    it could be the CmosVirus its pretty rare i think i dont know much about it i dont really know what it does

    im not sure if you could look it up i dont think so because that virus is stored in the CMOS of the Mobo but you would have to look im not 100% sure

    i tried to reformat and a fresh install of xp it didnt work for me
