This came from the Kotaku site (where I got the information from yesterday: http://forums.techpowerup.com/showthread.php?p=481900#post481900)

Yesterday, Crecente had a bad case of the "can't believes". After seeing an awful-looking promo poster for a new Soldier of Fortune, he couldn't believe Activision would rush something so shoddy to market in such a short space of time. Couldn't happen. Shouldn't happen. Thing is, it is! Kotaku Australia's Logan has pinged us to let us know that yes, the game is real, and was quietly announced at Activision's recent Activate Asia 2007 promo show. Why the lack of fanfare? It's a budget game, being launched under the Activision Value label, and won't feature either Raven Software or the series' GHOUL body-separating tech. Sad.

Oh well guys, it looks like SOF3 isnt going to be like SOF2, the game we all know and love  Why release it silently as a budget title, when this game would have made loads of cash with the proper developer and launch

I thought it was a bit odd that virtually nothing had been heard about it, then suddenly there's boards up in stores, stating a november release

Down with Activision. SOF2, esp MP and RMG, were fantastic.

hmm.. it might technically be possible to make a mod allowing for individual limbs to be blown off..

its all good develping mods, but what made SOF 2 was the limbs disappearing blood everywhere and screams of unholy pain. the game wont feel right without the same characteristics as SOF 2

well i found out about it by accident ha, i decided to look up S.O.F stuff online and whala found it on gamestop

    http://www.gamestop.com/product.asp?product_id=200351

and got excited....now im not...not at all...bah i wanted limbs to fly off screw gameplay body dismemberment is where its at, makes for "ultra realistic effects...

Honestly, anyone else think its funny how there trying to make all these games "ultra realistic" but ...truth be told if you got shot in the face with a shot gun.....you know exactly what would happen...but not in games like COD 4 or Far Cry 2 or Crysis...you get shot and you fling across the screen...if a rocket hit you...you wont fling you'd explode... that would be a good way to make games "ultra realistic" too much rag doll effects these days and not enough blood and gore and body dismemberment

you're not the only one, iv'e been waiting for SOF 3 ever since getting my grubby hands on the 2nd many years ago! i heard many things about taking Double Helix and putting a new engine in it and a whole new skin, but instead of that they ruin a legend, SOF IS NO MORE!!!

PayBack is being built on the Unreal3 Engine with 36 seperation points :D I've been following this since it was announced the only reason I have not added this sooner is because I did not think you all would be interested..

My clan and I are moving to it as soon as it comes out

BTW here is a gameplay video from SOF Payback :D

Cool, thanks for the info ;) I can remember a while back seeing some blueprints for the seperation points, but after reading about the gore being removed, I thought these pics must have been fake (or very early designs that were done before the gore was removed)

PS: that video didnt show any flying limbs or gore :(

PPS: why has this games release/development been kept so quiet??? Im still not convinced that they havent screwed it up :(

Kinda like the same thing Activison did with CoD. Call of Duty 3 was not developed by Infinity Ward, it was developed by Treyarch...

Only time will tell the fate of the SOF series.
