I don't get the point of GFWL anyway. Steam, ok it provides you with various goodies and in the end you actually want it. With GFWL, all i know about it is that it gets on my nerves because it's a pain in the ass to rewoke the already installed games but the OS got reinstalled in the middle.
With Steam games i just install Steam client to the same folder as before and login. And everything works. For GFWL, you need to install this client, login and pray that games will work without reinstalling them from DVD again. Or what's even worse, You buy a game on Steam and if that's not enough you have to login yet again to GFWL. So there you have 2 online systems working together. WHY!? And don't let me start with the compatibility hell after 10 years. I still play 10 year old games and even though it's sometimes hard to make games compatible, it will be nearly impossible with GFWL attached to the executables...

Try the XBOX360 Controller Emulator v3.0 @ ToCA Edit by Racer_S or x360ce vibmod 3.1.0.4 BETA3 by the same guy. I've used vibmod with my Logitech Dual Action Controller for games that use the 360 controller before and it works great. :toast:

I am also using a Logitech Dual Action controller with XBOXCE and it's working great.

I've been using those and they SEE it as a 360 controller but all the mappings are waaaaaaay off. I go forward on the thumbstick, Batman goes backwards. The same situation in the menus too. The face buttons are all mapped wrong as well, A = 3, B = 4, Y = 1, X = 2.
I have no idea what the problem could be.

GFWL has a lot of requirements that more or less guarentee the game will install, play, and uninstall well on Windows. It also requires that the game fully support the Xbox360 controller. The GFWL client is just on the surface of what it takes to get certified.

Since I had just played Batman AA I know the attached .ini works with my Logitech Dual Action controller.
I don't know if the mappings are the way you want them.
I am unsure if I had edited the controller settings as it has been a while since I had done it if I had.

Just replace the original .ini for the XBOXCE in your Batman AA asylum Binaries folder under:-
Program Files/ Eidos/ Batman Arkham Asylum/ Binaries

If all else fails, use XPadder since this game is Games for Windows = automatic built-in recognition of the wired 360 PC controller.
I'm going to purchase the retail of this, eventually. Would I need to download the Game of the Year features or will it auto-update?

I think the latest incarnation of the Logitech Dual Action controller is pretty much a XBOX 360 controller in the shape of a PS3 controller judging by the coloured buttons so I am guessing compatibility will be identical to the XBOX 360 controller.

Something I have been wanting to upgrade to since it has triggers.

Captured the feeling of "being" Batman. The vertical takedowns are awesome. Great performance and looks extra sweet with some of that Physx cranked.

yeah i have the physx on high where it recommends a 9800gtx along with your primary card haha

If you're still having difficulty I'd suggest getting the 360 controller for Windows since the game is Games for Windows Live. Automatic button mapping instead of XPadder.

With the graphics card I'm buying, AMD HD6950 2GB then unlocked to 6970, will it put PhysX drivers with it? Is it nVidia only? Right now I have the very weak 8400GS and it's staying in my piece of shit pre-built Compaq.

you wont have nvidia physx running then. itll be all on the CPU and wont look as good. you wont get all the cool features. youll have to get a 9800gt/9800gtx and do the driver hack to get physx running on the nvidia card with a ati card as the primary

Hm?

I haven't have any problems with using my Logitech Dual Action in any games which has stopped me using it.
I have only needed to use XBOXCE on occasion.

I don't like the XBOX controller design as I had been a Playstation Gamer in the past.

If XBOX made the controller so the left analogue was next the right analogue I'd purchase one.

wait, you want to use an xbox controller for batman??

Thats the biggest PS controller fault. sticks are right now to each and its extremely uncomfortable to play an FPS for more then an hour straight. the xbox controller forms to your hands and playing with it just feels more natural

I would use an XBOX controller if the analogue was set out the same as the PS controller.
Right next to each other.
It's a personal preference and the only thing stopping me from getting an XBOX controller.

Yeah don't know why PS3 decided to make the triggers sort of flat buttons instead.
They need triggers like the XBOX

oddly enough this is the one game GFWL always works on, I often log into it to fix an error GFWL has with a different game and then log back into the original game.

for whatever reason I'm having trouble getting into this game, might be a bit too console oriented for me to ever truly like it. Combo moves are great and all on old school nintendo, but have no place on my PC. I have a fricken 104 keys to use, just give me a damned key to trigger the move the combo would.

At the moment. But what about in a 10 years time?
One of the motivations for creating GFWL was forward compatibility (e.g. installers can't exclude installation on future OS's only old ones).

I agree, combos were one of the things that ticked me off in Prototype. About the only combos I ever use (read: bothered to memorize) were the different types of Deveastator attacks and that's because they're the best way to kill bosses.

I didn't care for BMAA's combos at all. The only time I had to care was one of those side missions where you gotta pacify x number of people within so many seconds.

To be fair I have always gotten to GFWL to work it just takes a ridiculous amount of time and steps (more like hoops) to set up including reboots and shit but then I got Batman AA + GFWL all set up again on a fresh install again and put the saves where they live and it won't see them. A Google told me I'm not alone and I couldn't find a fix. It must like certify or flag the saves in some way that is no longer valid or something when it phones home now.

Update: Read a bit more again and was reminded by someone reporting same that that it does see the saves but the game claims corrupted when trying to load.

Wait, isn't there a newer 360 controller with a better D-Pad? No idea if it's wired for Windows use or not.
360 controller is crap for Katamari whilsr PS3 controller is superior for it.

EDIT: Damn funny this thread went to talking about this game to video gamepads/controllers!

My question still stands though from my first post in this thread.

If all else fails, use XPadder since this game is Games for Windows = automatic built-in recognition of the wired 360 PC controller.
I'm going to purchase the retail of this, eventually. Would I need to download the Game of the Year features or will it auto-update?

you you buy the game of the year edition. it all comes with it. you dont need to do anything
