Skimmed through the patch notes and noticed:

General weapon tweaks: Reduced suppression recoils. Removed recoil modifier for zoom. Made a 75% reduction in hip recoil

Anyone in CTE know if it was tested, how did it work, and if it felt closer to BF3?

Now when suppressed, there's no increase in recoil when ads and a small increase in recoil when hip firing. The visual blurring effect is there, but I think it's changed, at least it did in CTE. Basically if you're a good shot, you can kill people now even when suppressed.

As far as BF3, I think it's better than BF3. BF3 had the random deviation added when suppressed. I think it's much, much better than before or even BF3. All you have to do now is fight through the scope sway, which is not that hard, and you can take down multiple targets, if they have no aim, when suppressed now. I just finished 5 rounds of Obliteration. I've got to say that I had fun before, but with the changes in suppression and the quicker movement, Obliteration is sooo much more fun now. Out of 5 rounds, three ended in 0-0 ties and I was on the team that lost the two other rounds but the final was only 1-0. The blowouts that used to happen no longer seem to be happening in Obliteration, at least so far.

edit: By the way, I don't know about any one else, but with the heavy barrel tweak my new combo on just about every gun is heavy barrel + stubby/potato.

The recoil changed the game completely. Finally I can see what I shoot when I spray n pray in mid rage like it should be. Also I don't know what they did to mouse but it feels like I've just switched on "reducemouselag=true" in UT3.

Why in the world they added the readiness after map loads. This really is a second step backwards in the franchise.
Not only you have to wait for a minute looking at the scoreboard, now I have to wait for people to get back from toilet plus ANOTHER 15 seconds after ready up.
I would forgive this if clicking on heli spawn and pressing deployed put me first in queue for spawning in it but you still need to press deploy after round starts.

Im a freaking inpatient person, BF2 instantly loaded next map with scoreboard shown on loading screen which owned. Now its a waste of time and I bet a lof of people will simply go AFK between rounds not to look at that complete waste of time.

Still at least a month out. Tigge said that in about 2 weeks they're going to run the Final Stand maps again on CTE with tweaks from the initial feedback. From there, if they go straight to certification on the consoles, it would be another 2 weeks before release. Realistically I think its going to be no earlier than the middle of November before Final Stand comes out.

I think their concept of suppression is that it is supposed to add an intangible fear element since a nerd behind a screen isn't going to be afraid of a hail of bullets, but his avatar is.

I played some today after the large patch with no disconnects. Had fun but the team I was on sucked so bad the only had our uncap and it sucked

Its much better than it was, my bullets seem to go where I fire them, but game crashed on me just now at the end of the round, still I am happy the latency is much better.

It was not mentioned in the patch notes (I don't think), but you can now open up the network graph using the console command: networkperfoverlay.drawgraph 1.

It shows a number of items such as packet loss it/out and latency, to name a few. Though its very helpful when you're having problems in a server with hits not registering or other network related problems.

I do a lot better with no scope at all (iron sights). Have trouble hitting anything at all when I use a scope. Putting a scope on my gun always results in lower scores. Anyone have any suggestions?

The visual recoil change does not effect iron sights. That's the only thing that jumps out to me.

I used to be in the same boat... kinda, it wasn't a huge difference. With the update you're able to set your mouse sensitivity for scopes while zoomed in. If everything is set to 100 at default, I set all zoomed scopes to 85% and sniper scopes to 75%.

I'm not totally certain that helped me though. With the reticle staying in place now, that seems to help a lot.

Yes any scope. I tried a few sensitivity changes but still have problems, I am not sure what it is about the scope but I go from a ~1.0 kdr to a ~.50 kdr when I use a scope. I am not the greatest at this game, but all the more reason to figure out so I can play better.

I set iron sights to 110% on the advanced page and soldier zoom sensitivity 115% with uniform soldier aiming enabled. This helped a lot with iron sights for me and improved my score. However, I tried messing with the scope settings adding and subtracting sensitivity but didn't really change my results. Increasing iron sight sensitivity helped a lot with iron sights for me but still can't do well with any scope.

edit:: starting to wonder about visual recoil, maybe when I use a scope I compensate for fake recoil.

edit2: definitely its the visual recoil, what a dumb thing. Don't have this problem anymore. Thanks guys!

I found I would track the reticle on its target while the gun was recoiling, not knowing that the recoil being shown was phony, resulting in no hits. Last night I stopped doing that after reading about visual recoil, and my score improved. It also helped they reduced it via patch.

yeah, sometimes just firing in the good direction gives more hits than doing it realistcally. And scopes are not good for firefights, I always am dead before I can focus... This could be a "porting" of autoaim calculations?
