So just got done playing a round where a guy was using the soflam glitch in combination with the mav to give himself a mobile laser designator. My patience is really starting to run thin with this game.

Metro was very close, but it managed to cleanly divide a small amount of space without making any particular path impassable (can't remember the name of the BF4 map but the one with that useless mountain pass outside). I never had any issues with getting held back in Metro, but realize most people did because they played it too slow. The game mode was Rush, so I almost never stopped running, and you'd be amazed how much that threw people off their game...

Say what you will about CoD, but it always managed pretty decent level design, in that it managed to keep small levels that scaled well and funneled the players into certain regions of the map. Metro was unlike any CoD map because it was very linear and had craploads of cover and hiding places--that's part of why I liked it so much.

Fact of the matter is, no matter what, Metro, and even current Operation Locker are not traditional, TRUE, BF4 maps. Battlefield is all about the team work, massive amounts of vehicles, and large scale warfare, and that occasional battlefield moment. You do not get this in Metro or Operation Locker, except for maybe the rare case of team work.

You must like the maps that allow you to camp a lot then.

No, but from what I can see if nothing like Metro or Operation Locker since you can be in vehicles and all that, and your not confined to just the interiors the carrier.

Oh look, pointed conversation at one another! Best watch it.

Since we are bringing our Metro opinions out of the closet I might as well share mine.

Metro was nothing but one huge choke point and is undoubtedly the worst BF map ever made, in either Rush or Conquest.

Exactly that, all it was was a map where people went to stat pad. I seen some people with some truly horrible KPM and KDR's that had extremely high SPM. simply because standing on a corner with a health box out and paddles at the ready was one of the fastest point producers. And also seen some amazing players with crazy stats from it as well since it was filled with choke points you could get a extremely high KPM while racking up points with a health box left somewhere. Really sad this maps coming back, would muh rather seem them bring back El Alamein.

Kind of like we did with Canal's :) That was always my fall back when I needed an unlock. Haven't really found that map yet in BF4.
I haven't played much TDM at all though. Thinking about it just to speed some unlocks up a little. I'd liked to seen Road to Jalalabad too.

Yeah TDM Canal's was great for points and weapon unlocks, but wasn't so damn linear. I loved flanking the enemy on that and pushing around spawn points. Also try out CQ Domination. I haven't really found the TDM in BF4 to be all that great, the maps don't seem to have great borders, the center isn't bad, but the outsides are barren so people will camp the edges with sniper rifles and to get to them without cover can be a pain. Domination just seems to be better for getting the weapon unlocks.

Sure, but atleast you had access to helicopters and all that. Where as you better love to throw grenades in Metro and Operation Locker, and run into walls of bullets.

Like I said, a lot of people played Metro too slowly and turned it into a siege between two sides. It had enough options at any point where you could find a weakness and explot it. People just loved laying around choke points like dead fish and lobbing grenades around corners. Those were the people I would kill 3-4 of on my way storming through like madman. I loved Metro because people played it so stupidly and going against the norm reaped great rewards, massive K/D ratios.

Operation Locker I think is just a bad map at its core. Having 1 tiny entrance into each area makes it nearly impossible to retake anything, and the only flanks that exist are either worthless (outside) or suffer the same bottlenecks and have massive turn around times ("underpass/halls").

I think Operation Locker is a better map than Metro, but thats not saying much. And thats simply because Operation Locker you actually see flags changing in the back and the front. Metro's biggest mistake was the 3 flag disaster. The top team won most games on that map, just because high ground is better. Yes you could pull off great flanks, even solo (running smoke helped a lot). And playing with friends you could turn the tides by getting a whole squad in the back. But I'm talking the average game, top almost always won and flags rarely switched possession after the first fight for B. Locker may not have the best routes, but it has more and they seem to be better, I see teams that have 0 flags sometimes and people will still get by and cap things and they all of a sudden they have 4 flags because the other team is too busy trying to base camp. Opportunities like that were much harder to get on Metro.

I honestly think you have the two maps juxtaposed. You also must have had a different EA account for BF3, because for less than 35 hours of game play you surely developed some pretty strong sentiments. Heck, I've had some 1200 ticket rounds that lasted damn near that long.

Metro and Canals were great for unlocks and futzing around. BF4's system for weapons/attachments unlocks is too slow for me. I'm an average gamer with average statistics and F me if I'll ever unlock all the attachments to even one weapon. Battlepacks need to be doubled in the amount of unlocks per and just get rid of the ridiculous emblem BS. When I get a battlepack it should be useful Dice.

I personally hate the whole unlock thing. I'd rather be able to just play the game then having to grind a high ticket Domination server just be be able to have a decent chance with some guns. I'd rather do (like I did this weekend) play 1200 ticket Conquest or 40-60 minute Obliteration rounds then have to grind unlocks.

Even better is when even half my squad is talking. It doesn't matter if we win or lose, it's a blast either way. Found several this weekend that were talkative. All it took is for me to say "watch your six" on voip to get them to open up.

The one instance that absolutely sucked this weekend was when someone was exploiting the soflam glitch with the mav. Called the glitch out and the glitcher spoke up saying I didn't know how soflams worked and I guessed that it he was the one and called him on it. Went in to spectate and caught him, but my friends in TS wouldn't call him out in game. Thankfully he left but it caused a lot of people to leave the server and some of the ones that I was playing well with in the squad and over voip.

While it sucks because I want to see how much/little the improvements are before I decide if I want a 290x or not, it works out as it looks like the price of the cards are going back down. Maybe by the time Mantle comes out, prices will finally be back to launch prices no thanks to that bitcoin crap.

Lame ! I'm hoping it will allow me to bump up BF a little on my Toshiba.

Those at AMD seem to think it's on schedule. https://twitter.com/amd_roy/status/427810352835735553

Update: We asked AMD what the situation was with the Mantle update, and Robert Hallock, PR manager for AMD Graphics and Gaming, replied by stating, "Mantle is still on track for January, in-line with the last date made publicly available." That would mean the release is immenent, as the month ends Friday. Given last week's spawning issues with BF4 though, this timeline seems optimistic since the game is supposed to be "fixed" before Mantle or DLC are released. However, we'll take AMD at its word and wait and see what happens this week.
