BBC Worldwide has announced that it plans to release many of its programmes for free viewing via file sharing. Anyone living in the US and using Azureus’ Zudeo software will be able to download titles such as Little Britain, Doctor Who, Monty Python series and Red Dwarf. Zudeo is Azureus’ version of YouTube (Zudeo it offers high definition videos), although they are most famous for their controversial BitTorrent software. The BBC said this move is part of a drive to reach the largest audience possible.

So we in the UK have to pay license fees, but people in the US can watch for free...

That's what I was thinking, and series like Little Britain aren't even that old, so they're not just getting the stuff that no one in the UK wants to see anymore. The BBC even kicks up a fuss when people at work watch the world cup via broadband in an office without a TV license, but gives it away to everyone else.

If they are giving away free high def versions of series. wont that also pretty much kill their overpriced dvd version sales ?
