HTC Droid DNA should be on that list, too. Considering replacing my Galaxy Note with one.

Unlocked would be at $599.99, right at the extreme end of your budget. The models from Verizon are sold GSM unlocked so you could also look for those. I believe the Japanese or international version is called the J Butterfly.

The OneX is a nice phone, I had one for a short time, and unlocked they go for about $500. The Nexus 4 is $359 for 16gb, but I have read some rather disappointing reviews for it (mainly revolving around poor construction and QA).

Quality Assurance- some of the phones have poor screen sensitivity, sound distortion, buzzing, etc. Check out the reviews online and you can see there are a handful of issues with the phone that are either a result of poor QA or shoddy workmanship by LG.

That being said, its by no means a bad phone- all phones have their issues. At the price point it is set at it is still one of the best Android phones out right now.

As far as Google pricing, you will see tax and shipping, but I do not see that sending the price anywhere near $500- more like $380-$425 or so depending on local taxes. The increased prices you see now are likely due to the somewhat limited supply of the phones via Google right now- its out of stock currently. Those who want one now may want to pay the premium from Newegg, Amazon, etc.

Best of luck on your search, let us know how it turns out.

ok..so i think i shd wait for a month or so..
btw, for QA, i think it's good > LG, so no need to worry abt nexus 4 for QA..i hope so atleast. :)

i have samsung galaxy S3, Note2 (but quite bigger & costly), htc one x, nexus 4, htc droid dna in my mind..will buy among these 5 mostly..

I thought the S3 was pretty much the best android on the market. I mean if you're gonna spend $600 on a phone, that would be the one to get right?

If you're gonna spend that much money on electronics why not a Tablet w/ 3g and Skype? The nexus 7 would be a cool alternative

HTC Deluxe is the international Droid DNA. Don't know if it is out. Next to get would be the Nexus 4. After that I would get the LG Optimus G. Those 3 phones are quad core. Wouldn't get the S3. Older processor architecture (quad Cortex A9 vs custom quad Cortex A15 based cpu). Same with the GPU.

He got his from verizon, so it wasnt unlocked. Cheapest one I could find was $699. Rather expensive. Nexus 4 looks good too, and cheaper. Check ebay, theres alot for 350-550
