Your worrying and faffing way too much about this.

I'd get the 750TX or the 850HX as I know Corsair are reputable, plus their warranties are great. Either will power what you need from them with room to play with.

He seems to like the CP-850 better though, at least if you look at the reviews....

The CP-850's form factor... CPX... can it be a problem?

Just get a Corsair and you'll be fine. As far as I know the CP-850 only fits in certain Antec cases like the 1200, you don't have a case listed in your system spec so I don't know if you're using an Antec case or not, but Corsair are a great brand and they have a great warranty.

Heck yeah. Antec make specific cases for it, even. Check it out:

Cases like the 1200 have bits that come off to support the larger height of these psus.

$140 just isn't alot of money for a good PSU, in my books. I'd recommend only the Antec CP-1000w; you can take a look in windwithme's post today and see it...

The only thing with that PSU is it's not a standard size, so doesn't fit in most cases.

Silverstone 850W Modular Strider is OK. Only 80+ though.

I'm pretty damn picky when it comes to PSUs...the most Vital component, IMHO.

But I hate OCZ. Not that they haven't had soem awesome units in the past, they just don't tickle my fancy any more.

Defects happen. There have even been Corsair PSUs that blew up under load brand new. Shit happens. What review, btw? The XFX 850 got one of the highest ratings of all psus ever tested by Jonny Guru, and quite frankly, if the review in question isn't as well performed and scientific as Jonny's, it isn't worth mentioning. That's like taking Tom's video card reviews over w1z's.

I would've gone with the XFX personally, but you can't go wrong with the Corsair either.

I hesitated after Wile E's post, but decided to go with the longer warranty and the more professional look of the Corsair, as well as the higher resell value because of popularity

I'll +1 on this. I have a Corsair TX850, and its quite good. Reviews tend to say it gets a little noisy, but I dont find this to be entirely true.
