I'd go with the cheaper one. My mousepad is so cheap my uncle has like 10 or 20 of them and he gave me one, and the next time I saw him he offered another one :p

I don't really give a @#%@# about mousepads though, if it works it works.

I use the clear wowpad that staples carries I love it, as long as you keep it clean(easy, just windex) it's great, like 7.99 or something I think
I'm all about appearances too for my tech so it goes well with my silver theme

I use a chunk of plastic laminate, like the kind you use for countertops (Formica, Wilsonart, et cetera). It's solid, low profile, slicker 'n snot against the teflon sliders used on mice, and you can get a big chunk of it cheap. I game alot, so having a big thin surface is important (currently 13" vertical, 24" horizontal).

go to walmart or the nearest dollar store and buy one of those placemats for your table.

they have a spongy cusion core and make a great mouse pad. they can be easily cut into any size or shape you desire. if you really want that fabric cover it is easy to make your own by using some spray on adhesive then apply some crushed velvet material or whatever you like to it.

personally i just use the classified section from the newspaper.
