i currently have a chaintech 7.1ch pos (http://www.chaintechusa.com/tw/eng/product_spec.asp?MPSNo=16&PISNo=199) and a creative sb 4ch. well in short i got the chaintech one to replace the sb but it sounded like crap. so theres $30 down the drain. now i need a new one to use eax ect. anyone got a card to reccomend for under $60?

there are OEM versions of the live 24Bit and Audigy2 and 4 that can be purchesed from 20 to 60 bucks, depending which one you want,

the only decent Via Envy sound chip was the HT variant, and its usualy fitted on sound cards which are too expencive for the sound quality and cpu utilization a Envy chip provides,

creative stays on top not becuase of brand, but becusae in the world where integrated on board sound is more and more common and is impruving every day, its also importante to have sound cards which not only provide good sound quality, but also dont bash away at your CPU to do so,
