    I will ask, my drive was in good condition, plus still has 3yrs on the warranty, I registered it with WD when I got it.

    I will ask him, I might not be able to lay the money out though, skint atm :(

    Most people here will tell you to avoid the WD Greens due to the failure rate not long after release.
    The theory was frequent head parking being the issue.

    I have a 4 platter WD20EARS which is still going strong as storage.

    i heard that the EARS had parking issues, that was why i brought the newer WD20EARX which is SATA 6gb/s and shouldn't have that problem anymore.
