UPDATE with fix to the blackscreen problem via hdmi 2.0 with 4k on pc.
Wow... I found the fix..
Finally after over a month of dealing with completely incompetent tech support, EVGA saved my ass.

Erin W, (EVGA suport.)
customer service rep I believe.

This guy is a God send.
I do not know him and this is not a joke.
I have been dealing with Nvidia level 2 and Samsung level 2 and 3 support for well over a month now,
because my 4k Samsung was not working in 4k. It would blackscreen on me when I went into any 4k res.
I have spent hours and hours and hours dealing with this.
I have pulled my hair out and bled inside this computer over this..
After going through owning my gtx 680s and getting no solution then upgrading to the 9 series and still getting no help
At the end of my rope. When I had finally lost all hope and given up.

Swear to God I was feeling defeated like this, trapped with zero hope and no help:
Anyway,
I got an email from EVGA so I decided to call them up.
We start running through the basics, try one card at a time etc.
Then Erin W tells me that maybe I need to enable UHD colors..
UHD colors? huh? o_O?!
Turns out you have to actually physically enable it for each HDMI port.
NEVER,
not even ONCE,
from dealing with all these people who call themselves "professionals" in tech support, did ONE single person even hint at such a thing.
My problem is solved and EVGA has a lifelong buyer now. My mobos, my gpus, hell, if I need a blood transfusion, I'm getting it from EVGA!
You guys Freaking rock!
Now I feel more like this:

IMPORTANT UPDATE:

Been talking with Manuel at Nvdia and he assures us that in this "NEXT driver update" they will support 4k res for sli systems via HDMI 1.4, with their current work around.
I can deal with that.
He also clarified that your TV or monitor will need to support Y'CbCr 4:2:0 over HDMI 1.4 at 4K.
So make sure of that.

but hey, the 9 series came out and it supports HDMI 2.0.
Just goes to show they support their new paying customers, while leaving the last generation in the dust.

Original post:
Just a heads up. After spending thousands of dollars building my system to be 4k capable and Nvidia recommending going sli for 4k..
Turn out sli doesn't even work in 4k..
Nvidia said they had work around that made it work but NOT THAT IT DID NOT SUPPORT SLI.

Yea, as you can imagine I am pretty let down by that.
They recommend it here: https://developer.nvidia.com/4k-ultra-high-resolution-development
I quote: "NVIDIA recommends GTX 780 SLI or better."

Well guess what? sli doesn't even work in 4k unless you are using display port 1.2.
I tried it. The forums are filled with people complaining about it and I am one of them.
This is one of several topics:
https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/727637/sli/4k-sli-issue/

I try to enable my sli in 4k and what I get is a flashing, green screen or crazy artifacting.
Yes I always expect next gen things to have teething problems but when Nvidia recommends sli for 4k..
It should work and it doesn't.
So fyi, don't go sli for 4k, save your money, unless it has display port 1.2.
"which generally only comes in monitors"

They sound like the 6 and 7 series may not even support hdmi2.0 anyway.
If they do, it may completely screw you into some 30hz refresh rate OR down sample the 4k quality, with some "chromatic thingamajig subsampling"
I read about on nvidia, that is buried in topics of BS, to make it work.
So it won't be TRUE 4k anyway.
I got my hdmi 2.0 cables in the mail yesterday and that STILL doesn't fix it..

There is tons of misleading info out there, that's just marketing and nvidia trying to sell more gpus at the cost of the consumer being the test subject.
So don't buy into the hype, new gpus and false advertising like I did for 4k via HDMI in SLI.
Wait until it actually works.

You tried changing the SLi bridge, right? That seems to have solved the problems for some people along with the drivers from that topic.

I have 3 bridges. MSI, ROG and a pro EVGA sli rev 2.0 "which was recommended on the forums". If the bridge solved it for you, you are extremely lucky. It doesn't solve it for a lot of people. That's just luck..

I have tried EVERYTHING. Not kidding, every single thing, that can be tried, I have tried a dozen times.
I have spent days worth of hours, scouring topics, calling samsung support, posting in topics.
Ugh...

Rather than "false advertising", this is more like a limitation/failure on nV's side on a specific situation. Trying to get 4K in SLI using HDMI is what is your problem, even though it is HDMI 2.0.

If it was me, I would have bought the Panasonic 4K with the Displayport, which is a better TV over all and would have worked.

Just the first 3 results in a google search. SLI on 4k does work, it's documented, and further benchmarked. You just have to know how to read and do the research in advance. Your post provided approximately 0.0% new information to anyone who's done 5 minutes of reading on 4k and what it en ails. I'm glad you learned you need display port. You just caught up to the rest of the community. Enjoy your 4k.

I read up before I bought it here.
Where they CLEARLY recommend sli in 4k:
https://developer.nvidia.com/4k-ultra-high-resolution-development

5 minutes of YOU searching, would of found it.. Imagine that.. Pot calling the kettle black online? Never that.

QUOTES directly from Nvidia.:
"HDMI 2.0 will add support for 4K at 60Hz."
Doesn't say, "we however will not support HDMI 2.0" anywhere.
AND
"NVIDIA recommends GTX 780 SLI or better."
Again they don't say "Unless you are using HDMI"
They act as if it is supported or will be supported, when HDMI 2.0 came out and it did come out.

Go somewhere with your smug ass attitude please.

"Just a heads up. After spending thousands of dollars building my system to be 4k capable and Nvidia recommending going sli for 4k..

That's what you said. Go look. I was just letting you know you can use SLI for 4k and it does work. Secondly, whatever video card you have, did you check to make sure it has HDMI 2.0? Hint, probably not. HDMI 2.0 isn't out on video cards yet. I felt like that was common knowledge.

I don't have a smug attitude. I just want to let you know not all is lost, after you spent all that money. Next time, just read a bit before dropping thousands of dollars. My two cents.

Not sure what you mean. No video card has HDMI 2.0. Not that I know of, maybe I'm wrong. HDMI 2.0 was ratified until September of 2013, but the 7xx series was well under way by then and already had HDMI 1.2. No cards will have HDMI 2.0 until the next generation, MAYBE.

To get one card working he still needs DP 1.4

i saw it stated above that it worked for one card at 4K, but not in SLI. I thought that was the entire point of the thread.

You aren't wrong, you're just an asshole.

Was it helpful? Not really. Was it needed? Not at all.
Well, if anyone comes through and reads your post, they'll be misinformed. I think it's important to get the right information out to people. Plus, you made it sound like legitimately you felt like all your effort and time was wasted. All I wanted to do was to let you know it's salvagable and not worth getting angry about.

so...the only way to get it fixed is to bitch to the screen manufacturer who then works with nvidia directly to get the screen manually added to the support list for SLI at 4k? That's what I'm getting from that thread on nv forums at least.
try a display port to HDMI adaptor?

edit: obviously a modern one, DP 1.2 -> HDMI 2.0 should work

That's exactly what I am trying. I have one in the mail, should arrive tomorrow.

But there is a ray of sunshine.
Been talking with Manuel at Nvdia and he assures us that in this "NEXT driver update" they will support 4k res for sli systems via HDMI 1.4, with their current work around.
I can deal with that.
They are due to release the next driver any day now.
Oh and I ignored that guy who came in here with an attitude problem.
I have no time or tolerance for it.

Must be the same fix AMD had to roll out for certain monitors, that lowers the frequency/bandwidth used to get past issues.

It's something they did called "chrmoatic subsampling" or something. It still looks great and doesn't drop the refresh rate.
People tell me I should of researched before I bought and I sooo did.. lol..
That's why I even know all this stuff. No one should be expected to know all this stuff.

Oh there is no such thing as HDMI 2.0 to display port 1.2 btw.
Been looking.
I wish. XD

i saw it stated above that it worked for one card at 4K, but not in SLI. I thought that was the entire point of the thread.

and yep, that was the entire point. ;)

Silly that the guy who comes in here screaming "you should of done research" didn't even read the OP..
If he did, he'd of know this was specifically about sli @ 4k, not 4k on a single gpu.
I guess the name of the topic it's self wasn't enough?

"Beware of 4k misleading advertising ((( and SLI )))"

I have to lol when someone recommends panasonic over samsung.

Well then you don't know what you're talking about.

The TV isn't the issue, it's the drivers. The TV works perfectly @ 60hz, 4k, not in sli.

Who said the TV was the issue?

I read up before I bought it here.
Where they CLEARLY recommend sli in 4k:
https://developer.nvidia.com/4k-ultra-high-resolution-development

QUOTES directly from Nvidia.:
"HDMI 2.0 will add support for 4K at 60Hz."
Doesn't say, "we however will not support HDMI 2.0" anywhere.
AND
"NVIDIA recommends GTX 780 SLI or better."
Again they don't say "Unless you are using HDMI"
They act as if it is supported or will be supported, when HDMI 2.0 came out and it did come out.

That's the jist of it apparently. They recommend and sell 4k with sli, then try to get it to actually work.

RAY OF SUNSHINE UPDATE:
Been talking with Manuel at Nvdia and he assures us that in this "NEXT driver update" they will support 4k res for sli systems via HDMI 1.4, with their current work around.
I can deal with that.

You don't get it, do you? His point is, you're making it sound like SLI does NOT work with 4K which it does, but ONLY using Displayport and NOT HDMI. And, it was said in the thread that the support WILL be added for it. Not that there was support already.

Also, you should have known what you were buying into when you were thinking to use your 4K TV as a monitor using HDMI. HDMI 1.4 can only do 30HZ at 4K.

If you bought a TV with a Displayport (like the Panasonic you lol at which is regarded as one of the best 4K panels) none of this would have happened.

And then some think Asus didn't put other inputs apart from Display port on their crown ROG G-spot display because of cost reduction ... ;)

Please re-read the OP..
I specifically said and I quote "sli doesn't even work in 4k UNLESS YOU ARE USING DISPLAY PORT 1.2."
My TV which you seem to fail to understand is 60hz hdmi 2.0. NOT 1.4...
Why is this so hard to understand? iunno.

Also Nvidia stated they had a work around for 1.4 that made it work.
Not "Oh one card works, two do not".

So let me get this straight:

Despite knowing that 4k SLI is only supported over DP 1.2... and that no graphics cards currently support HDMI 2.0... you still bought a 4k HDMI 2.0 TV. And then expected it to work with 4k SLI.

Yeah, this is not nVIDIA's fault in any way, shape or form.
