Probably. Its a old 775 cpu :) Good luck man! I hope thats the problem. If it is a good bios flash is all you need then you need!

Well after a lot of fooling around, it turns out it was my 6-to-8 pin adaptor to the video card. All the components are OK, and the system runs fine (even with the old BIOS). I'm going to grab a thumb drive from work and flash it with the latest version though.

Might wanna hold off on that, from just about every source I've seen, the only reason for flashing BIOS is to fix a problem or hardware compatibility issue.

Looks like you need to upgrade your bios, you were told the method but instead of buying a spare 775 CPU.. just ask a friend who has an intel CPU that was made in the last 4 years. It will most likely be 775.

The problem would either be his bios not being able to handle the CPU or issues with the GPU and the chipset. Best I could think of.

EDIT:

Oh, I figured out what you did. You got the wrong RAM. The ram supported by your mobo is 1333 Mhz, not 1600 MHz. The 1600 MHz is only for OCing your 1333 RAM.

Send the ram back and get 1333MHz ram and you should be fine.

Err... one helluva BAD piece of advice.

1600RAM will automatically clock back to 1333.

May you guys read the whole thread before giving advice... no offence but its really annoying =_=. The thing is that I've done flashing shitloads of times in windows without any faliures...

Thanks for this advice. The only reason I want to flash BIOS to version 1109 (it's currently 0402 or something) is because it annoys me that, when the computer boots, it says to upgrade BIOS. It says the CPU is unknown, even though everything works completely fine in Vista and otherwise.
