I was playing Americas Army, and all of a sudden my computer went to a black screen and 2 seconds later a blue screen popped up for about .5 of a second and flashed but i caught what it said "error computer must shut down" or something..its never did this.. Went my cmputer booted back up (did right after it shut down by itself) i checked my CPU temp and it was at 51 c after starting back up..is that to hot?, I hope im not having heating issues now.. it is dead middle of summer here now and 90's everyday but we keep our house pretty kewl.. but still my computer has ran about 5c hotter since the summer came. I probalby need to clean the motherboard dust off to and aroundt he cpu huh?
Please if anybody has any suggestions on what that could of been please let me know.. I would like to catch it before it does that on a regular basis and frys something

Thanks

I would say your best bet is to give everything a good cleaning, re-install the cpu hsf, and possibly do a reinstall of Windows.

Check the Error log, the problem should be listed there, also check dxdiag. Could be you just need to update DirectX.

It will be either under system or application.
If you think you can replicate the problem (i.e. go back into the game and get a blue screen) you should clear the event viewer logs and then play the game.
Then it will be much easier to narrow down as you will only have the logs of what was happening at the very moment you were playing the game.

Or the long way; start > controll panel > administrative options > event viewer > system.

Thanks rev, :toast:

;)

Its easy to remember that its event viewer but its hard to remember how to type it in run :p. Usually takes me two tries because I guess things like:
"evtvwr" , "evtviewer" , "eventviewer"

The full and correct run address is "eventvwr.msc" but it works without the file extension :)

why not just tell the pc not to reboot on BSOD and get the error from there? If you can get it to BSOD again!

Because then he has to replicate the error in game, which is not guaranteed to happen.
It could take hours, while if he finds something here he will know it straight away.

This way is easier/quicker sometimes.

true, but next time he wont have to be here looking in eventviewer. He will be asking ,I got BSOD with this specific stop error anyone help. Just easier for me to diagnose with the stop error is all! Personal recomendation for every pc!

True.

SlipSlice, could you find the error listed in either the Application/System tabs at the time you crashed? If not, follow sneekypeet's idea and disable rebooting on BSOD, then retry the program to see if you can get the BSOD again.

the cpu temp increase is more than likely explained by the time of the year but can i ask did you update you nvidia drivers recently? i recently updated my drivers (last 9 series numbered xp driver) and experienced a blue screen freeze and crash.
