Well, suddenly, my ps3 stopped giving video or sound, only 4 hours after I had used it... Tried on my other TV and it did not work... You think it's my PS3? I don't have other cables to test it with yet but is this how a ps3 usually dies? How much would a 40gb broken ps3 be worth?

So except trying new cables is there anything else I can try?

Is the power light still green ?.
What connection you using for sound and vid ?.
Does it seem to be running like normal other wise ?.

I got it with mine some time ago ( About 2 weeks old at the time ) and it was down to the HDMI cable which works fine with the computer so swapped the cable with another and worked perfectly ever since..

I did not need to try this though.

yeah I know you said you didn't have spares, but you mean hdmi right? as theone said, don't you have the component cables that came with it? for my ps3 I originally had an hdmi that would not give any sound but gave video, and it worked fine on the computer... i got a new one and all is well...
