Heh...yes its me again! ok here is the story!! My brother has bagged another 140 to go ahead and get a better Video card!! as in the other thread..the Jetway Radeon X1950Pro was the final choice at 65 pounds - 110 Euros
Now..My brother will spend roughly around 150 Pounds - 230 Euros for a Video card!!

Ok..I have one card again that appears to be a beastly little card...But again..what do yee guys have to say about this?

    XFX GeForce 8600GTS 730M 256MB XXX GDDR3 ,PCI-Express, 2xDVI/HDCP, 730/2260Mhz

    https://komplett.ie/k/ki.aspx?sku=334590&view=detailed

A good 230 Euros for this card....now...surely this card would fair well with DirectX10????

    What do you think???

    Buy a used 8800GTS 320MB.
    8600 isn't worth the £, it's DX10 capable only on paper.

^You're in for a long wait.

The 320 cards are having more driver issues then the 640/768 versions.:toast:

But still good for the price.

the 8800 cards have a memory leak leading to drastic drops in fps while playing games the 320mb card it effected the most because it has less memory. Their should be a fix coming out for this soon though.

8600GTS is a real bummer, like the HD2600XT (Not as bad), but you do realize that the HD2600XT is around 2 thirds of the 8600's price dont you? Anyway, just to say, if you cant get your hands on a 8800GTS 320MB, then get a X1950PRO, try it from powercolor the powercolor extreme model.

Please dont call people fanboys, you look like one doing so :p

heh lol! maybe I am a fanboy!!
    Well iam not :D

Anyway! I hear the HD 2600XT is not as good of a graphics card for games and the 8600GTS is a better choice. What is the key difference from the XFX GeForce 8600GTS xxx 730/2260 and a GeForce 8800GTS 320????
I see that theres plentyful more of the Stream processors...would that be a key role for high end gaming?

    The 8800GTS is MILES better.

    I see!
So is the Stream processors the main reason for that?

No... its the clockspeed and ROPs. Stream processors mean squat. I would get the X1950PRO not the 8600GTS, if you pay a bit more get the 8800GTS then.

It goes like this 8800GTS>X1950PRO>8600GTS But the 8600GTS is more expensive than the X1950PRO and delivers poor performance in comparison.

HD2600XT's performance is poor due to the low ROP count, for a tiny bit more cost, AMD could have made the HD2600XT have EIGHT ROPs instead of 4, thus giving more performance than the 8600... but some odd reason they didnt. It has more stream processors than the 8600GTS but just lower ROPs.

EDIT: 8600GTS also is slower than the X1950PRO because of the ROPs... X1950PRO has 12, 8600... 8
