It was 8 years ago that I last built a gaming rig, and for the past six years I've been completely out of the game. Now, I'm tempted to build a new high-end gaming rig to be able to play today's PC games. I already got a new 42" HDTV (LG 42LD650, LCD, 2ms response time and 200Hz refresh rate) to serve mainly as a TV and also as a 1080p gaming monitor in the week ends. I'll only be doing gaming on this PC, and nothing else, and I'll only be gaming during the weekends and holidays. I've done my research, selected the suitable components, and found out that the system will cost me around $2,200. Basically, I just need some moral support here; please tell me again why I should build a gaming rig for this amount and not simply just get myself a PS3 for $300. Can we formulate a list of the advantages of a PC gaming rig over PS3 here?
