So my uncle passed away yesterday night, so I wanted a distraction...

I want to build my cousin a somewhat gaming and other stuff computer...

    Here is what he wants:

Quiet (not dead quiet but still), not gamer looking (ie: clean look, no blue light going everywhere, maybe something like a stock antec 300), mATX can be a plus

Need only the box... shop from directcanada.com mostly, but if anything is much cheaper in the US, I'll make a trip to get it

    maybe a 1055t build? with a 5770?

    example: 210$ cpu + 125$ mobo + 100$ RAM + 150$ GPU + 60$ case + 40$ CPU cooler n fans + 65$ PSU = 750$ + 50$ overhead

So help me choose parts :D mobo and case especially. Smaller might be good so maybe a good mATX AM3 board with USB3? Never built an AMD system before

help me WC my build! http://www.techpowerup.com/forums/showthread.php?t=127296

Yea but mini-ITX might be restricted.. oh I forgot, at least 4 HDD spaces and an SSD would be nice

Help with the mobo please, I have no AMD mobo knowledge lol

Antec Mini P180 has 5 3.5'' bays, you can convert one to an SSD bay like I did.

Yea, that is why Micro ATX should be fine

I've never been very fond of the P180 for myself, but I could see it for others :p But I want to figure out the mobo first lol I choose the mobo first, then build around that, for AMD builds

depending on what you want to do one of these would be good

    BIOSTAR TA890GXE AM3 AMD 890GX HDMI SATA 6Gb/s Mic...

BIOSTAR TA880G HD AM3 AMD 880G HDMI SATA 6Gb/s Mic...

    BIOSTAR TA890GXB HD AM3 AMD 890GX HDMI SATA 6Gb/s ...

personally the 890GXB looks like a great deal

    CPU

    AMD Phenom II X6 1055T Thuban 2.8GHz 6 x 512KB L2 ...

    ram

    G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 ...

stuff is PSC based which is the same as the kits hitting 23XX on the CH4

    $94.99 890GXB
    $199.99 phenom 1055T
    $119.00 ripjaws 2000CL9

i have drives picked out i will post them when i get back home

First sorry for the double post.

I really like that case and have been thinking of buying SneekyPeet's myself so it was on my mind. I just checked and I see his post said "shipped within the US" so I think I over stepped my bounds there. I will ask if shipping to Canada is an option since I suggested it.

If that doesn't work, then the case is on your perferred shopping site here.

As I said, I can always go to the US to pick it up at a friends house in NY :) Thanks for the deal and don't go trough the trouble for me :p

lemme see some reviews and specs and see if it fits the bill :D

EDIT: I want more than 1 fan... how many fan slots does it have?

Budget is flexible, at worst I'll throw in some money in there for him... so I'd definitively go 1055t

I'd prefer to buy in canada if possible though, only 1 or 2 items from US maybe

Over budget but still acceptable.. ends up 886$ + 13$ insurance if I take postal insurance

    I'd save 25.XX$ if I get the 7200.12 1tb, should I?

How about the EA650? Good right?

Anything better than Antec 300? I want at least 2x 120mm fans or the possibility to get them, and nothing over 60$ now realizing how fast money goes up

How could I save any money out of there?

I personally don't like the Antec 300, but that is me.

I like the build other than that. I would suggest the Sammy F3 1TB as it is the fastest overall HDD at that size. The WD and Seagate win in some categories, but the Sammy F3 1TB is over faster.

As you can see in my sig, I am a little bias, but I get 125 MB/s reads and 94 MB/s writes average from that HDD.

My WD 640gb 64mb cash gives me around that... so I assume that the 1tb versin would give at least the same as the sammy...

Remember this is a brand new drive... More cache, strips it 4mb instead of 1 or something
