I've never owned a Gigabyte card but it looks like it's a very nice card based on reviews and it's clocked slightly higher than the EVGA card. I would still go with the EVGA card though based on my experience with EVGA cards and I like the ACX cooler.

In contrast, I would go for the Windforce Gigabyte card, just because I am biased and think they are the best aftermarket coolers available, and yes I have owned TwinFrozr's, VaporX's and the ACX, although I appreciate that, these coolers performance can be linked to the GPU they are cooling, for example, on my 7870 I never hear it because the fan profile keeps it cool and does not need to go above 50% speed, having read reviews of the Windforce cooler on the 290 it appears to be noisier.

The triple fan Gigabyte cooler is needlessly loud above 2500RPM because gigabyte used 75mm fans instead of 90 or 100mm fans like they do on the lower end cards.

As I said, can't hear it, owned it for neary 2 years, never heard it, obviously it's that efficient (or the fan profile is that good) that it does not need to go up to 2500rpm! When I get home I am going to test your theory and set it at 2500rpm, I will get back to you.

Well my card pulls more than 2x the power of yours so I'm surprised that 3200RPM is enough though I have been messing around with using bigger fans on the R9 290 WF3 I have. But the sub 200W cards with the WF3 cooler will be silent.

Just had a play with mine, I acknowledge my card has much lower power draw hence my comments earlier that the more powerful cards do report some noise, from what I can see with mine, to hit 2,500rpm I need to set the fan at 68-70% and it is just audible then to be honest, not loud but certainly noticeable. I would imagine though on a 760 with it's thermals & consumption it too may be pretty quiet.

This.

I own the GTX770 Windforce OC...amazing card and cooler, it does get pretty noisy past 80%...but it's effectiveness above and below that point is very impressive IMHO. :toast:

I use an open air test so for me everything is louder.
