It's not that they're grouchy, it's that they have a job to do, and they're doing it. Don't take it personally.

Um why has no one mentioned www.resellerratings.com? It's a perfect way to check any online business and see how other customers feel about their orders.

The best companys will be interactive with the site and have outstanding ratings.
A good company will have good ratings.
A bad company will interact with the site but have bad ratings.
A horrible company will have a poor rating.
    Black Panther says thanks.

Yeah, you should always check the company's reputation.

I think what Hat is having issue with is the second Jamaica.

    173-18 JAMAICA AVE
JAMAICA <- That. It should be Queens. Unless there is a city names Jamaica in New York state(and there might be?)

jamaica's a neighborhood/mini borough inside queens. Address wise, Jamaica and Queens are problly both acceptable in that spot.

Yeah, probably true. Anyway, back on topic.

I don't think we need a scam thread here, just go to resellerratings.com. If they aren't listed there, don't do business with them.

Well the zip code pretty easily shows where it is. It is more precise than just the city. ;)

If you are serious just have him open up a case on it with evidence Jr could provide you. If the sleezebags see jail time they could be raped. :D

Doing it the legal way is always satisfying knowing your ass is covered and theirs will be exposed. ;)

Another aspect to bring up, if there was a scam site thread here at TPU. I would have checked it and known about it. I saw the authorize.net seal and normally I would click on it. Admittedly, I didn't this time.

It's not up to TPU to inform you of possible scam sites or to keep you from getting ripped off on the internet.

Sorry to say it, but it's your bad for it happening. Thanks for the heads up though.

Wait what?! No that's not what I meant. I know it reads differently in context, but it's just hard to explain. Not looking for a pity woe is me drama party or anything, just wanted to make sure noone else makes the same mistake I did with that particular site.

    i agree,

although it would be nice to know of such sites, it could make techpowerup liable, i'e someone here catches an employee on a bad day, then starts bad mouthing said company making things up that aren't true then lawyers get involved, W1zz gets taken to court shuts down techpowerup :cry:

take me for an instance, now i ordered some pc parts (spur of the moment kind of thing) then changed my mind (the order was placed at the begining of the year making it hard to contact them),

so i phone up said company and say i'm canceling the order, thinking that was the end of it, only to find a text next day on my mobile phone saying my order had been dispatched and would arrive at my house within 2 days so i'm like :wtf:

so i ring again only for the guy to say sorry but the order had already been dispatched before i'd rang at 7 am, and when it arrived at the doorstep to refuse to sign for it, and to tell the delivery driver to return it back to xxxx

so a few phone calls later to a hot sounding girl i find the parts had been returned and that i would soon have a full refund

so i wait and wait and keep checking my bank account and 13 days later it still wasn't in  so i phoned again and spoke to another girl who said it could take upto 14 days for the money to transfer back into my account , and yes net day i did get a full refund

so who do i blame ? well myself ofcause,
my advice don't rush into buying things you don't really need

and like erocker said always check out their credentials

don't go for something just because it's super cheap that's always a give away

and don't do what my uncle did, and give out your card details over the phone, if you need to phone the company up for a one to one, as one place started charging things to his card:eek:

I wouldn't be surprised if your hard drives show up in a week or two. I don't know why, but a lot of these smaller companies in New York think they can just ship whenever they feel like it. I ordered a Christmas present from a similar company and a week later they call me and say that they don't have that color is stock and that someone had made an "inventory mistake"! This was like 4 days before Christmas! I learned my lesson on that one.

Yeah, the dispute went well. Everything came back kosher and without questions (on 2/18/11). Unsure if I got lucky, my bank had previous complaints about the site, or if the dispute is not fully closed and they are still awaiting response from a2z.
