Geeman, I've had troubles oc my new 3000+ with DFI nf4 mobo. RAM is 1gb twinx corsair 4400. I too have just come from a abit board and I'm not 100% on the settings I should be tweaking to get my chip 250+ FSB. Currently I can't go above 215. I tried upping the cpu, chipset and dram voltage. Lowered the LDT frequency to 4x but the os crashes just as it attempts to display the logon screen. I must admit I've got an old crusty psu which is kicking out 250-300w max. Is is time to buy a new one ;)

a new psu is needed its up to you which one
the way i started was go in the overclock part of the bios (forgot what its called lol)
drop your ram ratio to 133 or 166 depending how high you wanna go, disable cpc (for now),
cas 2.5
ras to cas 5
min ras 10
row pre. 5
row cycle auto
leave rest
go back to other page and alter the rest
fsb to say 220 (to start off)
ldt/fsb 4x
cpu/fsb 11, 10 8 (what ever you want) i like 8.5 ive got a fsb of 312 with it
cpu vid st. 1.550v
cpu vid con. 1.3v
cpu vid sp. 133% (giving 1.66v vcore)
ldt 1.3v
northbridge 1.6v
dram voltage 2.9

hope that helps
after i got that fsb i started tightning things back up, ram divider to 180mhz giving ram speed of 265, ram timings to 2.5-3-3-7

Sounds good.

I've got my Tagab TG480-U01 ATX2.0 PSU coming today so I will have a go at this tonight.

Cheers.

thats the same psu as ive got does it have the 24 pin plug?
good luck with your overclock
btw try to keep your mutiplier as high as you can get better bandwith that way :D
say try for 250fsb 10x multi

I connected it all up last night. Yeah it does have 24 pin. It's split 20 and 4 but you can slide them together.

I couldn't get passed 228 fsb. But I am determined to keep the cpu/dram synchronous. Also I thought the multiplier was locked on these cpus (3000+)? Am I being a fool, but I was able to change it like you suggested. I will have another go tonight.

I got 260 fsb, DRAM/CPU 1:1, CPU * 9, 3000+ so no higher on the multi. Seems stable. :D

I've had that SATA problem on my old abit nforce2 board when I ran too much voltage through it. I left it off for about 10 mins and made sure I didn't put that through it again ;)

Cheers for ya help.

Also what apps can i use to monitor the CPU, mobo and gpu temp to a log file or provide a min and max result for each. I only have real-time apps at the mo.

at 2.35 with FSB?

CPU 1.72V, temp 37C idle
Chipset 1.6 V temp 43C idle
DRAM 2.7V

I want to get my cpu V down a bit but it just doesn't boot at higher FSB.

I lowered the V on the CPU to 1.55 and it all booted and ran fine. Strange. I up'd the FSB to 265 and it all runs fine. Benchmarks are all good no crashes unless I increase the FSB above 265. I will leave it running for a day or two. CPU idles at 32C, which is much better.

It's strange it was like the system needed running in ;) I'm happy with it though :D Must fit the Arctic fan and get overclocking the GPU next :)
