Ok so this is not quite for a computer... but I figured this would be right place to get input from instead of the AVS forum.

I made a wood cabinet for my HT gear. I need a couple of fans for good active ventilation in an in-out configuration to be added. In at the bottom shelf and out on the top. I will be running them off a 12v dc adaptor.
I need advise for good but low noise fans. I am thinking 120mm would do the trick.

Any thoughts...

Anything by Noctua. A bit expensive but well worth it imo.

140mm will be quieter than 120mm. Noctua, Scythe, Yate Loon, Xigmatek. Yate Loon will probably be the cheapest option.

Note: I'm assuming you live in the USA so all stores mentioned are US stores. No offense intended.

I'm quite fond of the selection at FrozenCPU. If they don't have a fan to meet your needs, it doesn't exist.

Coolerguys also has an entire section dedicated to cabinet cooling.

I use an inexpensive thermostat in my HT cabinet and it works really well. I am planning to post a brief article on my experience with the aforementioned kit sometime today.

Thanks Guys...
Coolerguys seems to be the best albeit the costliest solution for me. Ready to mount with the LED thermal control is exactly what I was looking forward to.

I am thinking one fan in and one fan out as described in my original post. Should I make the inlet passive and just go with a double fan exahust. Any input is appreciated.

They're pricey but you get what you pay for.

I think the same rules that apply to cooling a PC apply to cooling an HT cabinet. I always like to generate a positive pressure in the cabinet (more air in than out) which reduces the dust and (hypothemythizing a bit :D) maybe, umm, makes the air denser for better thermal conductivity ?

Also I finished my article on an HT cabinet thermostat if you're interested. It's the same as the digital one from Coolerguys but it doesn't have a fancy digital controller and it can power as many AC or DC fans as you want (not just 2A worth of 12VDC).
