    Halo? Like, the first Halo?

A little late to that party... Ah well, at least my 9600pro will get some kind of performance boost out of it

WOW. A serious wow. That's impressive.

Let's hope 8.5 is more AGP friendly, esp. 3850 series.

Installed and so far so good. 100 point increase in 3DMark 06. Gonna run more tests, I'm interested to see if the WIC performance increase is true.

It installed fine on my 3850AGP. Ok here is the trick:

1./ DONT uninstal the old driver
2./ Just install the *drivers* not CCC on top of existing
3./ Reboot, then turn up hardware acceleration

    Done

    RESULTS SO FAR:

    1./ Lightsmark 2007, up +12%
2./ Open Furmark, 3337 to 3344 (nothing much)
    3./ Aquamark, no change
    4./ 3Dmark06, no change worth mentioning. Stock 10,299. Overclock 11,663 *

    * I hate doing the 3Dmark benchmarks. They take SO LONG to do. Wish they would do something a little bit more zippy.

    Awesome sauce!

I'll see if it works considering I've had to reinstall Vista.

    >.<

Looking forward to hearing about your 3DMark score.

How good is Cat 8.5 with OpenGL? There is a program called GLSL Parser Test Source Code which does a quick test of 186 items to assure they all pass. The results all appear to be driver related so it's worth it to see if this Cat release passes all of them.

Side note: Is there a similar program for Directx?

Well I tried what lemonadesoda said, but it doesn't seem to have updated my drive set.

    :(

Unlucky. The best tip I can offer is to boot into "safe mode with VGA". In this mode stip old ATI drivers, (drivercleaner). Then install new 8.5 drivers. Then reboot. Then turn on troubleshooting hardware acceleration.

I've been busy swapping out the motherboard I just bought from you

But I do have them installed and running. Hopefully I'll do some benches later tonight.
