Just thought I'd make a topic for this, as it seems, a few people, have this issue.

This an official response from AMD support.

Most people so far have been reporting that Catalyst 12.4 is installed, but continues to show as 12.3 Suite in the CCC software. It's a known issue, but the drivers are installed correctly.

After installing 12.4, compare the DRIVER version to the version listed on the release notes for 12.4. You can also check the driver version in Device Manager for that video card. If it is installed, it should list the version correctly.

Try these uninstall steps first, however:

**********
1. Download the WICU.
http://www.softpedia.com/get/Securit...-Utility.shtml

2. Uninstall everything related to ATI/AMD and reboot through programs and features in the Control Panel (programs and features).
Use DriverSweeper (freeware) to remove any remnants of AMD (check the "AMD Display" box) (_http://phyxion.net/item/driver-sweeper.html).

3. Launch WICU and delete anything related to ATI/AMD/CCC.

4. Delete all ATI/AMD folders in "C:\Program Files" and "C:\Program Files (x86)".

5. Boot into safemode and navigate to the "C:\Windows\Assembly" folder and delete any assemblies which have the public token key "90ba9c70f846762e". It is possible that you won't find any, but check it.

6. Reboot.

7. Install the Catalyst package again. It should work now.

I'd sorta be wary of these instructions if I had a board with the problem and it used the AMD Chipset Drivers. Just mentioning it, because, if someone got carried away...:ohwell:

Plus...

@D007> your link is broken. And, the only version Softpedia has is the one from November 13th, 2008, version 2.5.0.1.

Majorgeeks has the latest to be found, as far as, i know of: Windows Installer CleanUp Utility 7.2 - 2009-10-01

Just some FYI, though.
Microsoft retires Windows Installer CleanUp utility!

While the Windows Installer Cleanup utility was found to a be a very useful tool by many, as it resolved installation problems, it was also recently found to damage some other components of the Windows operating system, installed on the computer.
PS: Microsoft has replaced Windows Installer Cleanup utility with Program Install and Uninstall Troubleshooter.

On my CCC > Information > Software
It shows it as 12.4 drivers

This is on my 6970. Also heard a few others saying they had 12.3 show up however it's not a big deal since the 12.4 drivers are really on there.

Erocker could *update* that thread imo! Hell I'm still on CCC 11.9 cat as its been the least troublesome driver for me in all senses...

The latest drivers are dodgy at the best of times...

Hi

Thanks for the feedback; would you like to share with the TPU community what elements of the sticky you feel need to be updated!

nb: glad to see the Catalyst 11.9 have been o.k for the HD 6990

I think there was a similar issue that was never reported with the 12.2s, cause IIRC, when I opened CCC with those, it reported the package version as 12.3. Honestly, if the actual driver version rather than package version is listed correctly, then I wouldn't worry too much about it.
