Great deal on a 128GB SSD at newegg today. Same one I've been wanting but I'm too broke to buy it atm. :(

NICE. 3 months ago I bought 3 of them at $169. Probably too late to pull a crazyeyes ;)

Anyhoo... so very tempting to get another one for more space.

I'm just glad you broke down and got an SSD. Mechanical is for losers.

Would you recommend it over a Patriot Pyro SE?

Look at the Shell Shocker section on the main page - it's the next item up (1:00PM PST)

This is a good deal but I opted for the 128GB Vertex 4 for $20 more, as posted in another thread this morning. It will go into the laptop to hopefully kick it up a notch. Anyone know if there's a way to keep your legit HP Windows key/activation when installing a new HDD? Can you clone your OS and put it on a SSD or is that just for mechanical drives?

Cloning works fine as long as drive is plugged into the same SATA port. ;) Sometimes it may throw up a fuss, but re-activation should be no problem.

Is Acronis still the top dog for cloning? I haven't looked into this stuff in years.

I just use the WD edition, since i have WD externals. I have used it to go from mechanical to SSD, SSD to SSD, SSD back to mechanical, can't say I've noticed any real problems. I use the disc clone feature of Acronis, and not much else. Restoring from whole-disc backups seems to work just fine as well.
