Choice of LCD to choose.

Hi guys. I'm planning to buy another monitor. I'm on a tight budget of $600 yet wants the best of it. My local online distributor has a list of them. I'm looking on 24inch - 25.5inch.

Which will be the most recommened monitor i should get?

1. Bigger inch the better.
2. In terms of performance then size.
3. Worth the budget.

Opinions??

(P.S. Should i really go for a 1920X1080 instead of a 1920X1200? Seems like many monitors are coming out with a 1920X1080 resolution which is 16:9. I only use my monitor for gaming or watch videos it in, but don't connect it to an TV tuner.)

I just had the 16:10 to 16:9 debate myself.

I went with a SAMSUNG ToC T240 24'' which is 16:10 1920x1200 and I really love it. It is the perfect resolution. Personally I couldn't really deal with it if it was any wider and 16:9.

Do you need to purchase only from that website?

The HP LP2475w 24" H-IPS monitor is the best monitor available in the $600 price range. It can even be found brand new for $525 from some places.

Also, I prefer 16:10 to 16:9 for games and movies. It's a personal preference, but 16:9 seems to short vertically and too long horizontally.

I really enjoy 16:10 tbh. But honestly, some movies/shows don't look too good in it.
But you can always change the settings. Games on the other hand, are pretty damn good if I do say so myself

Wow thanks for the replies. By the way prices are in singapore dollars. Yes i prefer to buy monitor through that website as it doesn't require me to travel to my local store and bring it back home. It delivers right to my door step free of charge. I don't have a car.

There's a list of dell monitors that sell. But the cheap ones are usually 16:9. The only 16:10 with 1920X1200 is the ultrasharp 24Inch. But it costs a whopping SGD$800+. Personally i prefer the max resolution : inch monitor. E.g 1440X900 is usually 19inch. When a monitor is 20inch, it usually is 1680X1024.

Thus if i can get a 1920X1200, i would prefer the maximum size of it can go. But judging from the store, the samsung 25.5 inch monitor is the only one nearest to the $600 budget i have. And no one seems to be recommending it. Thus i'll probably go for a 24inch then

I've always hear asus monitor are good. But thier monitors are always expensive. Espically in my country area.

Is the 25.5 monitor any good? Seems too cheap for a big monitor.

I'd go with the 25.5.

As I said my T240 rocks ( Just got it a week ago ) and it has a sleek and sexy design. Also I believe that one comes with a remote and all kinds of goodies. I found the remote a very nice plus

Can't go wrong with SAMSUNG.

I have the Samsung T260HD as my main monitor. The only difference between the 260HD and the 260, is that the 260HD is classified as a tv, with the built in tv jack.
Nonetheless, it is a fabulous tv/monitor, especially hooked up via HDMI!
But both those monitors are great choices.

yeah that monitor will be a nice pick for you, I didn't even notice the hdtv classification but it's a nice perk. finish a game and then turn on your favorite show without ever moving. nice.

I would never choose a 25.5" 1920x1200 monitor over a 24" 1920x1200 monitor. It's actually gonna look worse, unless you happen to sit farther away from it.
