  • Just one planet.
  • No spaceships of any kind, except for the satellites.
  • It's a Civilization game, just on another planet, and in the future.
  • More info: http://well-of-souls.com/civ/civbe_overview.html
This page is a must-read, it helped me learn the new concepts quickly.
  • Renderer: DX11 and Mantle, no DX9 or DX10
  • Binaries are 32-bit, no 64-bit version
  • 2560x1600, everything set to max w/ 4x AA = 1.3 GB VRAM used at game start, running ~100-120 FPS on GTX 980
  • Current release version has major issues with higher than 60 Hz monitors not showing all available resolutions (patch has been promised on twitter). Only fix is to run windowed mode

Ye gods I want it. And as it's Civ 5 I can play it! Unless they've upgraded the engine a lot, which I doubt..

After playing a couple of games I have to say it's fun, somewhat different to Civ 5. Still, the game could use some improvements to AI and balance.

Oh and to recharge the dig site things of your explorer, you just need to move it back to a city or outpost and it will recharge instantly (even when not ending turn in city)

I like Civilization games but I will be skipping this game unless someone can prove to me that Firaxis has devoted significantly more resources to QA. Civ 5 (and Civ 4 as well) are still to this day riddled with bugs in online multiplayer causing the game to lock up randomly. Even if you can find people willing to stay for an 8-12 hour game, the bugs make completing an entire online match impossible.

I actually have an issue where my game will crash randomly in mp games... incredibly annoying.

I will have to check it out for my self, but as far as it seems from the comment on the steam page it looks like many people are not happy with the game.

If you go in expecting a civ 5 DLC than you'll be fine. If you're expecting something new and groundbreaking than you'll be disappointed.

It's a fun game but it's just a reskinned civ 5 with a few new features. Also comes with the same downfalls (poor AI being the main)

Civilization games for the last few incarnations usually get higher praise than they really deserve at launch. I skipped 5 entirely but I'm interested in this one because of the theme but I will wait a year or so for the dust to settle and the expansion pack to drop before deciding.

My take on the game is this.

If you enjoyed Civ 5 you'll enjoy this.

If you Civ 4 > Civ 5.. than you won't like this.

I liked the stacks of doom in Civ III. Artillery first and then tanks.

As far as Q&A goes, i've been playing the mantle version for quite a bit, have yet to notice any major bug, or any bug for that matter.

Yeah I have to admit, as much as I love the idea of a more science-based Civ game, and the whole space thing is exactly my cup of tea - there is just no way I am going to shell out full price for this.

I have played Civ 1 through 5 and Alpha Centauri, and out of all of them, I liked Civ 3 the best. I hated Civ 5 because you couldn't stack units per square, you were only allowed one unit per square, and the interface was very dumbed down. If this would bother you, then skip it.

Most of that did bother me. I understand the reasons for some units, but for others it was a terrible idea, and prevented me form completely murdering some cities in one round, unless you nuke them, bomb them, and then use the giant death robot to finish the job. But its dumb, back when infantry had to live off the land, I could understand the issue with stacking multiple units, but when you reach modern times, there is no reason why 3 or 5 units cannot assault a city from one side.

First 20 minutes of gameplay while trying to start formulating a review for it, and it crashes during the AI's turn... Also having issues with it being set to full screen, but my mouse is moving out of the window and onto my second monitor. I see so solid scores from various review site, but a lot of the franchise's fans don't seem too impressed.

Looking beyond that, it seems nice, I'm a new player so I get to learn everything about Civ starting from now.
