these are released for a very good reason - OEM systems.

Coming soon to a dell/HP etc near you.

Many stores will stock these as well, since they'll work fine on generic $20 PSU's.

A little? My 8800GT can play anything without any issues... Its good that they're keeping the G92 based products alive, as they provide a lot of performance for their price. For all the people complaining, if it aint broke, don't fix it.

So none of these cards require power connectors , or only the gts250 require a connector?
also, where do they sell club 3d cards anyway

why don't take a look at http://www.club-3d.nl/ too see if there are

for all the lazy one here is a picture from Club-3D's site:

You mean at a lower price to smart people who like lower electric bills, right?

What about the 9800GT? There are not pictures of that part of the card.

Edit: Nevermind, did a little reading and a 6-pin Power connector is not listed under the 9800GT's requirements, but is under the GTS250. So that must mean the 9800GT doesn't require a 6-pin connector. Awesome.

I want a 40nm G92 w/GDDR5, I really do.

Part of me wants to cheer the G92 onward, since I just wanna see over how many process jumps a GPU core can survive :)

You know, I think if nVidia has just named the 55nm G92 the GT204 instead when they moved from 65nm to 55nm, I bet we would see a whole lot less people whining about nVidia "rebranding"...

The great thing about the G92 design, is that it is essentially a scaled down GT200 already...or rather GT200 is just a scaled up G92. That is the reason nVidia doesn't need to create another GPU to fill the mid-range segment. It would be interesting to see it moved to 40nm, adding GDDR5 would require a little work though.

UM HELLO, for me duh......

Banned? from techpowerup? What lol. Why did you think i was banned when i never break any of the forum rules?

Dude, polar bears are cute, thats not funny dude

he has a point: there is a HUGE market for people with generic/weak PSU's and OEM systems, who just want a cheap slap in card that wont require big/loud cooling

Can't blame him. I used to like and buy only Nvidia up to 8800GT till I found out what a jerk!!! this company when they have some worthy competition.

I hate it when they use their market influence to withdrew AC dx10.1 support thru a patch.
http://www.anandtech.com/video/showdoc.aspx?i=3320&cp=3

Promise to support their broken MGP on notebook that run chipset but end up with a fan increase fix.
http://news.cnet.com/8301-13554_3-10020782-33.html

Rename GPU to confuse their customer instead of just lowering their price.

Giving a fake GTX280m sticker to the mobile range that only have a 8800GM performance level.
http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/geforce-gtx-280m,2353.html

Love it or hate it, Nvidia is a brand that is hard to ignore!!:D

Its only insulting if it isn't true. If he can manage to show me one of his posts in the past where he has done the same with ATi, then I'll believe he wasn't attempting to troll. Otherwise it is pretty obvious he was bashing nVidia looking to start an argument(AKA Trolling).

You should recommend a notebook with a 15inch screen for your mother... use even less power ... can on 24/7 for torrent download. Just need to find a way to hide the porn from her:laugh:

Why is it a bad idea to release new versions of old cards? I mean, like my mother wouldn't go and order a brand new GTX285, she'd take the cheaper card that doesn't consume as much power.

If they did use the same G92 chip or make a DX11 revision of it and it works well, why not? The 4770 is just a smaller die revision of the 4830, which in turn is a cutdown 4850, which in turn is a GDDR3 4870 and a HD 4890 is just a binned 4870.

4770 is not just a smaller die version of the 4830. 4770 is RV740 and 4830 is a cut down version of the RV770. Also, the 4890 uses a different, improved core over the 4870/4850. RV770 vs RV790. Where are you getting your info?

Couple points, where are the numbers, 40% power reduction huh, then where are the numbers?? Secondly, if these cards hit their mark then they will be a SWEET addition to a media PC. Get in a little gaming action in between all those movies :D
