ok, so earlier tonight i couldnt get my cpu to start i was like wtf reset bios etc etc. narrowed it down to my sound card possibly?, i pulled out the old SB audigy 2 and the computer boots just fine, using onboard i can play music just fine on my desktop as soon as i load a game such as WoW, computer will restart and load into windows no problem. is this all sound card related? im going to try to run into town tomorrow and see if theres any in stock. any other idea in the mean time?

Could be RAM too...I would download and run Memtest, memory instability is probably one of the top failures in modern PC's and can cause some of the worst stability issues while still allowing the PC to boot and run somewhat.

It could be the sound card...but if onboard doesn't make the restarts go away, I wouldn't necessarily say run out and get a new sound card just yet. Have you backed off your overclock? Have you ran a stress test recently? Are you seeing any blue screens when it restarts or does it just flat out restart?

Yes, overclocking can cause this, too. My comp ran just fine, but if I were to play a game (like Bioshok/COD4) for more than a couple Minutes, BSoD. After a restart, everything was fine. So I stress tested the system again using Prime95, and after quite some time, there occured an error. So I reduced the OC a bit, and prime found it to be stable. No problems since then.

i found a really old/cheap card like $20, i plugged into my pci and computer detected new hardware, also it said windows recovered from a critical error? i asked around alittle some one suggested maybe a corrupt sector in windows and possible reformat?
