Computer not booting, need diagnosis asap

I'm just hoping it won't happen again, since I reformatted only a week before this week's hardware failure. But thanks! Your insight has saved my computer.

It has to do with the boot priority. I had it happen to me before. Once its screwed up the only way to fix it is a OS reinstall.

If it happens again then its your HD is bum without a doubt.

My advice is backup your stuff ASAP and stay out of the bios.

Do you have any recommendations for good auto backup programs? I had been using Acronis, but it apparently decided not to back up half of my files (exe's, flv's, fla's and shortcuts for some reason).

Honestly no man. I back up my stuff manually. Its ghetto but at least its effective.

Agreed, I might end up taking that route as well, especially considering I don't have many files left to back up (granted most of them were ancient documents/artwork from 6+ years ago).
