Ok, so my dads pc (its in sp) completely randomly locks up.

Im not sure what the deal is.

it was working fine, i swapped boards and it game me a memory error but no big deal, fixed that. now, it locks up a few times a day, whether it is in the bios, or post screen, windows, trying to format windows ect.

Im not sure what to do! if its the board i'll rma it and give him "back" the P45 but if its ram or hdd idk...

    what do you suggest?

What mobo? What processor? What is the CPU VTT voltage (or FSB Termination Voltage) set at?

Hmmm.. All stock. Well, if things are all set to AUTO, set all the voltages manually to what they should be at stock. Make sure the ram has the correct timings at a command rate of 2T. Also make sure the ram is set to the appropriate voltage. If done correctly and the problem persists, try swapping CPU's for a while to see if the problem follows the E6400.:)

Sounds like ram, are you using them in dual channel?

If so try different slots in single channel.

I had same problem with lockups then I tossed My Patroit 1333 memory and got Crucial Ballistix PC3-12800 all problems went away.
