Computer slow, Do i have a virus?

My computer is running a bit more slow than usual. all my settings in bios and such are the same. I look in Task Manager and it shows System Idle Process using 99 cpu usage and 28k mem usage. Is this a virus? I have been downloading random stuff lately, mainly music, and a few movies (not porn). How do i fix this problem? thanks.

You could easily run a virus scan. And if your PC isn't doing anything, then your System Idle Process should say 99% being used. What you should really look for in the Task Manager are any programs that seem suspicious or weren't there before.

If you think that a particular file is suspicious you can upload it to VirusTotal and it will check the file on many different anti-virus engines, all at once. Gives you a report on the results when it finishes.

chances are your just filled with spyware, one visit to a few music or movie sites can get you over 200 spyware tags on your system even if you dont download anything. run ad-aware 2008 to clean it up and its a good idea to check your add/remove programs to see if you downloaded any toolbars or other stuff you didnt know about along with the stuff you knew you were downloading (they love to bundle crap in there)
