hi, i am upgrading my computer and i could really use some help. im not exactly a noobie, but im not experienced either. heres the thing,i want to stick with my motherboard, but i want to change my processor and add some ram. i currently have a biostar u8668d v7.1 motherboard. here is the link to the specs (http://www.biostar-usa.com/app/en-us/mb/content.php?S_ID=343). i want a pentium4 processor because it is the best it can handle, and i was thinking on buying an Intel Pentium 4 2.8AGHz 533MHz 1MB Socket 478 CPU, amazon link provided(http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0012MYGNC/?tag=tec06d-20). Is it ok for my motherboard? Now the ram. Theres this guy at my local computer repair who told me my board can handle only 1gb, but at the biostar webpage it says it can handle up to 2gbs, what should i do, stick with 1, or go for 2? and if it supports 2gbs, is this kind of ram ok? (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820141217). and... should i get a new fan/psu, or is it ok with what i have already?
    thanks!

save your money, and build a new rig. the prices you'll pay to upgrade that machine will be more than it would cost to build a new machine due to the supply and demand on the items. trying to find those older parts at a low price is almost impossible.

mmm... it would be like a 100 bucks for both the processor and the ram. is it really that expensive? i mean, it would be my first real upgrade and i dont know much about the prices, but i think 100 bucks is not that expensive. what could i buy with a 100 bucks to build a new machine? would you think this upgrade is worthy, i currently have a celerond at 1.6 and only 1gb ram.
thanks for the comment, i really appreciate it.

its just a home pc. id use it mainly as a second choice for my laptop. i think i would use it mainly to learn how to use a linux distro, probably start with ubuntu then move on to fedora or something else. besides that, i guess my parents would use it to check email, msn, check out webpages etc, nothing really complicated. maybe download some movies and songs, but thats about it.

all you really need is what you have already for all that stuff. just save your money.
