My temps don't go over the max of 72c or whatnot but i'm concerned none the less

My i7 2700k is 4.8Ghz 1.42v under load
at idle the temps are between 32-35 at load they're between 60-66 but usually more towards 66..

I can hit a higher clock with a bit more voltage and was hoping to run about 4.9-5 at 1.45v but i'm concerned my custom loop won't cut it..

The water temp only changes a couple degrees.. i'm using a EK supreme ltx block and just cleaned out the whole loop. I've got my mcp655b at 4700rpms, and a swiftec tri rad with a push pull configuration using coolermaster r4 fans pushing about 80cfm each at 1850rpm..

I'm lost on the temps..

Those volts seem a little high - my 2500k can do 4.9Ghz@1.37-1.39v

temps seem ok to me, IB runs a little hotter anyway but for a custom waterloop i expected better. as my setup never goes beyond 60'c though ambient room temp here varies from 18'c at the lowest and 25'c at the highest on an average day.

yeah i did reapply thermal paste.. a few times and used different methods.. only getting about 60 on full load, ambient about 22c. I kept track of the water and intake/exhaut air temps

at idle i was at this
cpu: about 32-35
water: 22
air in: 22
air out: 22

at load i was at this
cpu: about 60-65
water: 27
air in: 22
air out: 24

Not sure if that'll help anyone help me troubleshoot things.. i'm beginning to think either the block sux or has an issue although the spread of the thermal paste is pretty even and covers just about the whole block. the other option is that the ihs is just not seated on the chip right.. nothing i can do about that though lol

one other thing.. my block has the acrylic top.. what are the chances it cracks from over tightening or something stupid??

I think the issue is on the block side, maybe too much paste or uneven/insufficient mounting pressure.

3c water delta isn't that much but it is a sign that the loop is receiving some heat

@radrok, i agree.. i'm thinking it's the block, under normal operation, gaming and the like i don't usually see anything touch the 50's or 60's so i know it's working, however i have the 1155 bracket on order for my d-tek fuzion v2 which after some lapping should perform just as well. I think the ek doesn't mount very evenly, not to mention i don't trust acyrlic blocks. I'm also ordering some feser one nc fluid and a new xspc res to hold my mcp655. My biggest concern besides the block mount is that the flow rate isn't as good as the d-tek. so i've been working on cleaning up that block and will attempt a run with that.

It wont crack. The worst you could get is loose threading. Aldready happened to me once on an acrylic top. Dont overtighten stuff. Those things can even be tightened with hand the same way you tighten bottled water to make it leak proof. Most leaks happen on plumbing, wherein rerouting the tubes would sometimes turn the barb counter clockwise.

As for the crappy temps, try cleaning the block internals? Do some remounts. If your still not content with the temps, buy those newer blocks.. afaik, the LT ranks together with the Apogee GTZ etc.. switching to an EK HF / Koolance 370, or even a Raystorm, youd see about 3-4 degree off (well based on the review sites I saw)

It's not about CFM with Radiators and water cooling, it's about static pressure combined with CFM. The best currently fans on the market that satisfy this criteria along with being very quiet are the Scythe Gentle Typhoon 120mm - 1850RPM fans. These should make a 2-5°C along with being exceptionally quiet.

65-66°C is hardly high temps, considering your are run benching software which puts excessive stress on the CPU it wouldn't normally see, but if you feel the need for lower temps, a bigger radiator will solve your problems without a doubt.
