When Double Fine asked the gaming community for donations it never expected this. "It's been an amazing experience," Tim Schafer said as the last bit of funding rolled in for Double Fine Adventure. "So much love." And so much money! The Kickstarter project, which aimed to collect a mere $400,000 for a new, classically designed adventure game from Schafer's San Francisco-based studio, concluded with a total of $3,335,265 in funding -- after just over a month. An accompanying documentary will capture its creation, step-by-step. "I don't want to say this is the end of the whole game industry as we know it ... it's not, it's not!" Schafer joked, surrounded by festivities in the Double Fine office. As the Kickstarter clock counted down, the visibly grateful designer said fans no longer had to accept no for an answer when it came to their favorite "niche" entertainment. "You can choose."

And meanwhile in Activision's impenetrable fortress of CoD doom...

"WHAT?!! Consumers just paid a studio 3.3 million to make a game!"
"We must take advantage of this somehow!!"
    "But how boss?"
    "...muhahahahaa!!"
"Oh no, boss has the CoD grin again!!"
"BRING ME MY INFINITY WARD MINIONS!!"

Then in the EA Origin Beta fortress of doom...

"DICE!! BIOWARE!!! Come out of your cages quick! I need you to practice puppy dog faces for the general public!!"
"But...we don't need 3.3 million. We'll make 100x that off the gazillion DLCs we're releasing!"
"Look do you want your water dishes changed or not?"
"When you put it that way...can we wear a Tali mask with the puppy face?"
"Only if the removal of the mask is considered paid DLC content."
    "DEAL!"
w3b, KainXS, manofthem and 4 others say thanks.

I still wish they would bring Brutal Legend to the PC and create a sequel.
