im I cheating here, or what? I had made all those 3d logos, but understood that this contest is not about logo making, rather than "fun with 3d".... so here is the chica with the bike...! Wheels of powerUp babyyyy!

What good is a t-shirt if she's already wearing less?

mailman you've got my vote on that entry! All of the other ones are crazy good too, but I'm lovin' the polish that's on mailman's :)

Catinas: I'm digging that 5th one in your latest post too. Very awesome w/ the reflections on all of those

yea if we can use pre modeled 3d stuff im not gonna get my hopes up I can beat the premade stuff just not gonna devote that much time to it. work is far more important after all but yea i gotta admit in terms of looking 3d and in terms of effort i think mailman has it hands down

i went the cheap way... boobs + tpu logo

Not cheap, just appealing to the majority demograph

And I say show more than what the picture does, and either: Give her TPU logo nips, or pasties with said logo on it :D Probably the latter of them, cuz... after thinking about it, power button nipples is a tad disturbing haha

When our company went from 2d to 3d in 1997, there were no online libraries. The only models out there were thousands of dollars and only used by Hollywood or companies like CNN. We had to hand craft every model and create our own database. It's a lost art. I bet over half the people that claim to be 3d artists couldn't take these blueprints and model a car with locked background planes, it is one of the most basic forms of modeling.

Try modeling on a 486, cause the 3d apps in the late 90's were way ahead of the computer curve...like Crysis was when it came out. The computers that could run them alright were extremely expensive. I don't think I had a computer that could really work a 3d app until I bought my sig rig.

well hard surface modeling isnt so bad but modeling organic forms is a pain especially when modeling them properly for proper muscle deformation.

my point is to make a good model from scratch will take hours if not weeks along with proper textures and shader groups if were allowed to use any old thing on the net i just have no further interest in the contest as grabing free items then pressing render kinda defeats the purpose.

and most PCs with 1gig ram can do 3d work fairly decently its when it comes to render time that things get dicey

Not to be a dick, but pretty sure that is exactly why people were given like a month and 1/2 to submit an entry (or three). So hours or weeks still leaves a couple weeks to polish the render, or work on another entry ;)

if you look above i posted where said motorcycle can be had for free download thats MY point lol and why i asked for clarification. I can easily belt something out in a couple days but IF im allowed to download w.e and use it then why would i bother wasting my time doing it from scratch? thats the point i was making

the red motorcycle above is the exact same model as the yellow one i posted ;)

And I believe Pickels' point was that anyone can take free pre-fab models, "copy and paste" them together and call it their own work. Free or not, the idea behind a contest with a good prize like this one, is to have people work on something from scratch :\

I mean I take a non-bias opinion on this matter since I know my logo quite literally doesn't stand a chance, especially given it really isn't 3D anyways heh

yea but you still made it the female in my renders i modeled from scratch and edited for that post each link in the chain around her neck was placed by hand etc. If i had just done the dick move id go download Victoria V4 with the motorcycle and thus presto lol. I know i wont win but its kinda not the point at the same time.

Did we not just see the Overclocking contests go through this issue andre yang didnt attend so he let others BORROW his scores hint hint

Design = you make it. Taking a design from somewhere/someone else is not designing your own work. It's clear, it's simple and it doesn't need any further explaination.

Here's a little person rant of mine. You will find this very rare for me.

When someone does a personal contest (not from a sponsored vendor) it is meant to be something fun for the members of TPU to give a shot.
This is not a competition for a freakin' Nobel prize, it will not get you into the Guiness Book of World Records and it will not change your life in any meaningful way other than you get a prize for giving a little effort and participating.
If everyone who nitpicks the !@#$ rules would take the time they spend on that would use it to come up with an entry or better their entry, we would have a ton of cool shit to look at and give us more ideas for another contest.

Just do something in 3D with the TPU logo. We don't have the !@#$ time to determine if the fingernails on the model of the new TPU wench were taken from a model colllection. Hell, we don't have the time to know if you took an entire scene from some obscure model/texture collection.

WE ARE GOING TO BE LOOKING AT WHAT YOU DID WITH THE LOGO, LIKE THE CONTEST STATES.

Only a couple days left. Get your submission in before the deadline. :toast:

    Pardon my rant.

There wont be a single entry till the last day. The funny thing is that if they forget to post their entries in time. xD
