Which controller is good overall in handling and other things. Ps3 controller ,Ps4 controller or Xbox 360 controller . I am not taking Xbox one controller into this thread because i cannot connect it to pc wirelessly.

Can ps3 or ps4 controller be connected to pc wirelessly with a receiver like xbox 360?

Thanks.

You can get a < $5 bluetooth adapter and use a software like MotionJoy to get the PS3 controller to work via Bluetooth. It also emulates a 360 controller and therefore doesn't have to be setup custom like a third party controller would be. Controller type just depends on preference but I personally think the PS3 controller is superior. Main complaint is triggers but personally I like them and it is easier for me to control things in a game such as throttle in a car.

I'm not big on gamepads but have played with the PS3 pad on my friend's console and I don't like it at all. I have semi large hands and it's little skinny handles always feel like they're slipping out of my hands. I've not played with it but I've felt a 360 pad and it feels the best IMO. It's also the most supported om PC obviously. The 360 also has the potential to last longer since it's dead zone is not as prone to problems after lots of use.

PS3/4 controllers have no Xinput (deal breaker for me), it could be fixed with Xinput wrapper / Motion in joy but I heard they have some issues.
Also, X360 controller feels the best among three for me.

I prefer an old fashioned Logitech game pad such as the F310, or dual action etc.

Natively? I though all PS controllers required some kind of software emulator for PC.

It's a nice controller , I got one, the only downside is the weight (batteries). I still use my old wired MS Sidewinder for most of my games.

I have a bunch of 360 controllers but the sticks are all loose so i got a xbone controller just to try out on my pc. It just uses a usb to micro cable and some official windows drivers. The sticks are better they feel more grippy and less like they will come off centre. That's my biggest problem with the 360 controller eventually the sticks will become off centre and slack over time. What the xbones shoulder buttons do is they are a plastic piece which moves to tap the actual internal button (switch). You have to get used to tapping them rather than pressing them, its weird but it just about works. The triggers are okay but the 360 had a nicer travel distance, the PS4 triggers are even better imo.

Because the xbone controller comes as one piece internally and the outer parts are a shell attached with screws and parts clip on, its easy to replace the shell but its not as tight fitting as say the 360 controller.

I also like the PS4 controller, the ergonomics are nice and it functions well. The sticks are not as nice as the xbones imo but everything else is great.

Agree with this. I bought one for like $25 off Newegg, and it's been rock solid.

At first I tried a wireless adapter off eBay for my wireless 360 controller, but it was total trash and didn't work kept dropping signal. Then I opted for wired.

That said, I do prefer the PS3 Controller in general ;)

I wore my 360 controller out lol

I bought a Xbox One Controller and 10ft Micro USB cable yesterday. I use a PDP Fight stick and PS4 controller.

Yup i've worn them down over the years lol. The plastic is all shiny/smooth now and the sticks are all loose as fuck and off center. The rubber grip on the 360 sticks wears easily, although the PS3 had a much worse coating on its sticks. RB also seems to not be as smooth a click as the LB button now (all 3 of my controllers). If i remember right 2 of my controllers are from my Falcon chipset xbox 360 (early 2008). They are still usable, maybe except the one that moves the left stick up to the right at random times; if there's a cursor on screen you can see it move all the way across the screen on its own or the camera moves itself.

I've had my 360 controllers apart a few times to replace the sticks so the grip is new again but it doesn't effect the actual mechanism so the movement is the same, also to clean them up.

I think anyone who really liked the 360 controller would like the PS4 controller, the xbox one controller is okay but the shoulder buttons/trigger shape might annoy some people.

Bought a PS4 controller few weeks ago... I am glad... it really greatly fits as it is larger and fits my shovel sized hands better.

The tool installation is painless, actually the touch enabled pad greatly helps aiming with bows in skyrim etc...

Yes, plug and play
What about PC title support? I've seen a lot of PC games that show Xbox controller support, but none that have PS4 controller support. Isn't that the real test on compatibility when it comes down to it?

(EDITED)
Hold on, lets back up to the so called "native" part. Every article I've found indicates at launch the Dualshock 4 did NOT in fact have native PC support, or even any drivers supplied by Sony. The only info I've found suggests you have to DL 360 controller drivers and set it up so the game is tricked into thinking you're using an Xbox controller.

Sorry, but that is still a form of emulation no matter by what means.

...and here's an article posted this month saying the same thing:

I'm sorry, but this kind of setup is NOT "plug n play".

You have to distinct two meanings of words emulate and wrap...

There are zero problems on windows with playstation pads... I've been using them for years. Community is actually the best, most transparent solution.

I use a ps4 controller via DS4 tool:
http://forums.pcsx2.net/Thread-DS4-To-XInput-Wrapper

Should also get the Xbox 360 drivers, in case you want to emulate Xbox 360, through the ps4 controller.
http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/en-us/d/xbox-360-controller-for-windows

Some games only recognize the Xbox controller, so it's a good idea to have it installed.
If the game has button detection for custom mapping, then just installing the driver will be fine.
Otherwise if it needs Xbox 360 controller emulation, you just enable the driver, included with DS4 tool, by pressing start.
If you do not "start" that driver, you will still have the ps4 driver installed and the controller will work, it will just not be supported properly in any games, that don't allow custom mapping, with button detection.

I prefer the ps4 controller now due to the touchscreen.
I don't use it as a touchscreen but you can.
I use it as a push to talk button and it is so nicely placed, that I can, run, shoot, fly, accelerate, decelerate, turn, bank, yaw, etc.
All while talking.
Great location for a PTT button.

As long as a game supports Direct Input it can use a PS4 or Logitech style gamepad without any external software other than the windows drivers.

Plug n play to me means plug it in and it works. Seems this is not usually the case due to most PC games supporting Xbox vs PS controllers.

I wasn't arguing that it works somehow, because I've seen it said many times. Just arguing it's being "natively" supported.

It works plug and play if you install the scarlet crush service or the newer DS4 tool if you need activated touch that acts like a mouse.

Unzip two archives(main and update), put em somewhere, install bluetooth drivers and service. It works and forget it.

For the newer DS4 tool, it is more simple, just pair the device in windows using it's native UI. Run the exe(or make it autorun), and everything works... It can't be more easy than that, you can even set up macros there)

It is just because direct input is such an archaic fossil from winXP times, that does not support natively nor pressure sensitive buttons, no gyro, no touch nothing! M$ should be shot in the foot by maintaining such an api. The native mode is not possible just because of that, it becomes a mess. Such wrapper layer is the best solution imho.

Well my main concern were I to want to use a Dualshock 4 on PC is would I have the PS button prompts showing onscreen. I would think that alone besides just having games work with that button scheme would take some kind of 3rd party software, since Sony never provided drivers for PC. That to me isn't plug n play. If you could plug it in and have it play off either drivers in the OS database or via the device automatically installing drivers once it's plugged in, then yeah.

This just seems like an odd pairing with Windows. Neither Sony or MS seem interested in it, and for obvious reasons.
