it uses the same engine, just slightly modified.

similar to bf2 uses the same engine as bf1942, but modified.

cs:cz uses the 1.6 engine but modified.

ktr 1942 and bf2 use completly different engines. bf vietnam was based off of 1942 and 2142 off of bf2.

not exactly. BF42, BFV, BF2, and BF2142 are all refractor II engines. Just vareints there of. All python does in BF2 and 2142 is control gpms and events.

BFV is slight upgrade to BF42 and BF2142 is a very minor upgrade to BF2. BF2 however is significant overhaul of the 42 engine...but the same engine none-the-less...

    trust me man...you know my bf42 ssm-ing skillz ;)

Um... you heard of using different models? Only new thing that was added to CZ (and 1.6 recently) was the "two-tone" refraction. They are the SAME engine, just different models and WAD files.

I think Bf2142 is a little more demanding than BF2 itself..i get about 5-8 fps less overall, then on regular bf, and my settings are exactly the same. But it doesn't hurt when you get around 80 avg. :)

for me its the other way around due to more simpler textures...especially on snow maps.

i gotta test bf2142 with my new 7600gt when i finish building my htpc...that will be a good comparison...x850pro vs 7600gt, pretty sure the 7600gt will win, but they are almost hand in hand.
