CPU Fan always @ Max RPM?

Hello, first time poster...

So I bought a i5 4670 and was disappointed in the stock cooler as Prime95 got my cpu temp to 65 fairly quickly... it was almost sad...

So I bought the Arctic Cooling 92mm fan, link is http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835186093

Upon loading up AI suite the fan RPM always hovers between 1900-2000. Even using Prime95 it never really moves any.

Granted the temps at full torture test never got past 45C for the 2min I let it run should I be worried? The fanXpert2 also has a ! over the graph as it there is nothing to graph. Yet my Cougar I have on the side it can graph different RPMs based on temperature.

Any help would be appreciated thank you.

Well, to begin with, 45C seems reasonable when running the torture test. Pretty good actually. I have to think that's because the CPU cooler fan is running at or near its 200RPM limit. That is what it is supposed to do when the cpu heats up.

You're stating that even at idle it's running at max RPM? Have you set the CPU fan to PWM mode in the BIOS?

And, welcome to TPU!

Also confirm the fan is plugged into the CPU fan header on the MB

Double checked that my CPU cooler is plugged into CPU fan slot and not CPU_OPT. Went into the BIOS and the only real options were Enabling Q mode, disabling or going Advanced for a 3pin fan...

Shouldn't hurt anything running the fan at max RPM I suppose, maybe in a few months I'll invest in another CPU cooler. Maybe a Noctua.

In Q-mode, does it allow you to input threshholds and/or parameters based on temperature?

EDIT: What's your motherboard? I'm assuming manufactured by ASUs based on the AI Suite.

Registered just to say I have the exact same issue with my new computer. i5 4670, ASUS motherboard. 30C idle temp, CPU fans are always ~2300 RPM regardless of what I change to fan control in the motherboard.
