CPU or GPU Upgrade

I'm upgrading my older pc and don't know whether to buy a new gpu or cpu.

has an 8600GT GPU and a 6000 x2 amd CPU.

what would you recommend to upgrade first

Both. The CPU and GPU are outdated. The 8600GT was a weak card 5 years ago, so if you're a gamer it basically won't suffice, and the 6000X2 will bottleneck whichever new video card you do buy.

If you're video editing or doing intensive non-gaming tasks replace just the CPU to a modern quad core or hexacore.

If all you do is browse the internet. Keep your rig as it is.

If its AM2 then i would check the motherboard to see what it can support then go from there. if its 939 then donate it to a family member and build a AM2+/AM3 quad for cheap
