Whats up, Hey guys, I just loaded up TAT to monitor temps on my CPU, They seems WAY off...Its sayin 51 idle on both chips? WTF. Speedfan is sayin 32C/44C , which sounds alot closer.. Anyone had trouble with TAT?

Are you OC-ing? Do you have your stock cooler on the Core2?

Speedfan's readings sound about right, for programs to read temps correctly on my P5B I had to turn on ACHI and ACPI 2.0 in Bios. TAT still read a couple degrees higher at idle, but everest, speedfan, coretemp and TAT were all pretty close on readings after I changed those settings.

I'd believe TAT before anything else. It seems to be the most consistent for me. Remember what TAT reoprts is core temp, which is usually10-15c hotter than cpu temps.

Cool, I'm probably ok if thats the case...I just loaded it up and  .. Wasnt sure what was goin on... I'll redouble check everything.. I am OC'ing a little.. I'm @ 2.66 while running it...Didnt think that should change anything but rais temp a little.. Not cause it to be way off.. THX

Here's the deal

TAT was made for Pentium M's...however it does work for C2D's (says Intel)

Speedfan and most other monitors read from the T_case (or the IHS)..Now TAT reads from the T_junction (the core itself)...

Usually programs such as Speedfan will be about 15c lower than TAT...

You should trust TAT...it was made by Intel and they say it reads the core(s) correctly...I have done a lot of research into this if that helps..

Use TAT instead of Orthos to load test...TAT does a real 100% load on all cores...Orthos toggles between full and moderate loads...

Keep you temps below 65c while running TAT load test...:rockout:

EDIT: Also TAT is made to run on INTEL chipsets only....Nv & VIA chipsets usually shutdown and restart trying to run TAT...

If those are idle temps and you've done your thermal paste right I'm pretty sure speedfan is giving you the right values.

If they are load temps then TAT might be right - remember measuring temperatures depends upon how the motherboard works as much as anything, so TAT could well be wrong even though it's designed for Intel CPUs.

TAT can install wrong sometimes...

My system did the same thing once, and i unistalled TAT and then reinstalled it...after that my temps went normal..

Just for fun tho...Load at stock fsb and vcore and run TAT and Speedfan..Do a TAT load test, and watch to see if the max differences between the two are more than 15-17c lower on speedfan..and keep track of idle and load temps from TAT..

usually TAT reads most air cooled systems in the 30-35c range..under stock load usually read 45-50c...of course you can't determine what temp you could see when oc'ed..but most keep them under 60c load...Intel says you can go as high as 70c under TAT load, but some say to keep it under 65c...

another thing to check to see what one is more accurate is to run at stock speeds and vcore, then see what speedfan reads...make sure that it reads higher than your room temp..if its lower you can be sure speedfan is not accurate..

i used TAT once. the temp came out the same as the program i use to monitor my temp :p , i think it has to do with the fact mobile chips are lacking a IHS right? or am i completely wrong? lol
